A Message From the Principal
State testing for grades 3, 4, and 5 will be here at the end of March before we know it. The week after spring break, March 22nd, we'll kick off our testing with test preparation spirit week. Parents can partner with us now by making sure your child gets plenty of rest, eats breakfast at home or at school, and attends school regularly. Here is a RACES poster the teachers use to help students do their best during testing. Thank you for your support.

A Message from Mrs. Mann
Dear Ruschies,
Rusch Elementary is doing service learning in honor of Black History Month. It will also be celebrated for the entire month of February. Students will read books, participate in daily trivia and so much more. If you choose to extend your child's learning about Black History please visit: https://www.commonsense.org/education/top-picks/best-african-american-history-apps-and-websites
Also snow pants, boots, hats and gloves are a requirement for each recess. We go outside daily unless the weather/temperature does not permit. If you have any issues providing your child with winter gear please contact me. Students who do not have the proper attire will have an alternative recess.
Love,
Dean Mann

February - National Children’s Dental Health Month
Everyone in the family needs to have a daily plan to prevent tooth decay. Daily activities for everyone should include:
· Brushing teeth 2X/day for two minutes with fluoridated toothpaste
· Flossing between the teeth once a day
· Eating nutritious foods and limiting sweetened foods and beverages
· Drinking water
· Protecting teeth from harm by using a mouth guard during activities
Teeth play an important role to:
· Chew the food we eat
· Say sounds and words correctly
· Hold a place for adult teeth
· Give the face a nice shape
This dental health care resource list has many low/no cost options for dental care. This includes places to go if you have Medicaid or BadgerCare coverage.

OPEN ENROLLMENT ONLINE NOW
What is Open Enrollment?
The inter-district public school open enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend public school in a school district other than the one in which they reside.
Who can apply?
Any Wisconsin resident in 4K to grade 12 may apply to attend a nonresident school district under the open enrollment program. However, a child may transfer to a nonresident school district for early childhood education or 4K only if the child’s resident school district offers the same type of program and only if the child is eligible for that program in the resident school district.
When can parents apply?
The regular open enrollment application period for the 2021-22 school year begins on February 1, 2021, and ends at 4:00 pm on April 30, 2021. The best way to apply is online.
Additional information on the regular open enrollment application season can be found here: https://dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment?rdt=oe
Mrs Kenas on Maternity Leave
Dear Families,
I will be on maternity leave until late April. In my absence, Mrs. Sween will cover my classroom counseling lessons. She is an excellent teacher who has substituted at Rusch several times and already knows many of our students. She will continue to teach classroom lessons about important social-emotional topics including problem solving, healthy friendships, resilience skills, and more.
If you need to connect with a school counselor or need further support or resources for your student or family, please contact Mrs. Gulrud who can direct you. She can be reached at: 742-7376 ext. 6001.
I will miss all of my students and look forward to seeing them again later this Spring!
Thank you,
Angela Kenas
