WHAT WE ARE LEARNING
Language: Children will be able to identify all the letters of the alphabet. We should be able to name all the vowel letters-a,e,i,o,u. Please continue to review all the letters at home. We will be playing the game Make It, Break It. In this game, we will say a word like "fox" then we will break it apart. We will say the first sound and leave the rest of the word in tact- /f/-ox. We are verbally teaching blending of words and we will review rhyming and segmenting words. We will also start on taking away the first sound of a word. Example- say the word fox now say it with out the /f/ sound. The answer would be ox. We should also be able to make say simple rhyming words like boat/ goat, shell/ bell and know what a rhyme is. This becomes a skill as we head toward reading. We will also be working with short constant, vowel , constant words like BUS, CAR, VAN, and FIX.
Show and tell this will be Ocean Animals. If you should have an ocean animal to share with the class they can bring it on Friday.
Math: Your child will be able to rote count to 30 (4 year olds) and rote count to 10 (3 year olds). We will be starting measurement and measure each child's height. We will be working with words-tall,taller, tallest, short, shorter, shortest. We are also continuing to review all our shapes and colors.
Social Studies: Your child will be learning about different modes of jobs found by the seas and oceans. We need to know how important our oceans are how they effect people.
Science:Your children will be learning about different ocean animals . We will talk about the different classes of animals- fish, animals with shell, sharks and ocean mammals such as whales and dolphins.

FIELD DAY IS COMING - JUST A REMINDER
Indian Creek Elementary PK Field Day
Friday, May 20th, 2016
Indian Creek Elementary has scheduled Field Day for Friday, May 20th. Our PK students will be participating along side the other students in our school. We have filled the day with many outdoor activities that PK students are sure to enjoy. Some events include a little water to help cool them off!!
The schedule for this year’s Field Day is as follows:
8:30-10:30 PK whole day/PPCD AM and PK AM
1:00-2:00 PK PM and PPCD PM
Note the following items to help your child prepare for Field Day:
1. Tennis/running shoes are required. Do not wear slip-on shoes of any type (no sandals or flip-flops). Every event is active, so the correct shoes are very important. Students should wear comfortable clothing and YELLOW tie- dye shirts from Fun Run so they can participate in all field day events.
2. Items you may wish to send for the comfort and protection of your child include: sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses. It is best to apply sunscreen in the morning before they leave home to be sure they are covered properly. TEACHERS CANNOT APPLY SUNSCREEN.
3. There are several water stations for the students to cool off while having a blast! Students might want to bring a towel to dry off if necessary and re-useable water bottle with their name written on it.
4. All PK sections will have breakfast at 8 am. The lunch schedule on this day will be a little different. You may send a lunch, or your child may purchase a lunch from the cafeteria.
The cafeteria lunch consists of: hot dog or hamburger, sun butter and jelly sandwich, whole apples, bananas, cucumbers, baby carrots and 1% milk or assorted juice. The cost for ENROLLED Indian Creek students is $2.35. Parents may purchase a cafeteria lunch on field day for $3.25. Parents, if you plan on purchasing a lunch from the cafeteria please complete order form below and return 3rd.
We are looking forward to a fun-filled, Field Day!
