DEI Movie Night Cap - For Parents!
DEI* Movie Night Cap – Friday, 1/24 @6:30pm
After you drop off your 4th grader for movie night, stick around and join other parents in
the cafeteria for refreshments and engaging conversation around the topic of
“Unconscious Bias”. (Note: this is an open invitation to ALL F.Ave parents, not just
those with kids attending movie night.)
Please watch this short TED Talk (What does my headscarf mean to you?) and we
look forward to having you join our first DEI discussion.
*DEI is a PTO sub committee that is committed to supporting teachers and parents and
fostering a Diverse, Equitable and Inclusive school. Volunteers participate in activities
and initiatives that encourage those goals in our FAVE community.
4th Grade Movie Night
4th grade Movie Night – featuring Spider-man Into the Spider-verse – will be held on
Friday, January 24 from 6:30 - 9:00 PM. Movie Night is a free event – an opportunity for
our young people to enjoy a movie, snacks, and their friends … all by themselves! We
provide a bag of popcorn and the option to purchase additional snacks (with a limit of $3
spending). Kids can bring a sleeping bag or pillows to enjoy the movie in the FAVE
multipurpose room. If buying snacks, please send cash--no more than $3.
This movie night is for FAVE 4th grade students only, no guests. Parents drop off for
this event, so we have a school administrator and parent volunteers to supervise the
evening. Drop off is at 6:30 PM in the main lobby, pick up in the circle by the
multipurpose room by 9:00 PM.
STUDENTS:
Please sign up here for your child to attend movie night.
VOLUNTEERS:
Please sign up here if you can help pop popcorn before or chaperone during the event.

STAMP Testing Information
Dear Parents,
During the 2019-20 School year, we will administer the Avant STAndards-based Measurement of Proficiency (STAMP) assessment at grades 2,4,7,and 10. The test will be administered during the weeks of January 27th - February 7th during regularly scheduled world language classes. In second grade, students will be assessed in speaking and listening. In fourth, seventh and tenth grade students will be assessed in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
CSD will use the STAMP results to assess proficiency of students in the World Language they are learning. The assessment data will be used for program evaluation and individual student planning.
The test is not timed. The test can be stopped and resumed so students can proceed at their own pace. For grades 2 and 4 each section is estimated to take 30 minutes or less. For grades 7 and 10 each section is estimated to take less than 45 minutes. Students will take the test during their regularly scheduled language class. World language teachers will proctor the tests. Class time will be utilized.
For students who require classroom testing accommodations in World Language classes, the accommodations documented on their Individual Education Plans or section 504 plan for use during World Language Classes and will be utilized.
If you have any questions about the STAMP assessment, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Heidi Whatley
