News from Glacier Peak

Remarks from Mr. Griffin
We made it to May and we are quickly wrapping up our school year! Summer vacation is just a few weeks away, and I have no idea how it arrived so quickly. We have much to be proud of as we pushed through and arrived on what seems to be the other side of the Covid 19 pandemic. While this year was more normal than last year, next year is looking to be even better!
It has been a busy few weeks here at Glacier Peak, and the remaining weeks will be just as busy. Just last week, we were able to enjoy the Battle of the Books competition, the Adams 12 Art Show, the AD 12 5k, and the Lion’s Club Relay. I would like to express my gratitude to all of our Lions Club Relay runners that participated in the relays Sunday with Adams 12 Schools. Mr. Hood was extremely pleased with how well the students ran and our showing. Big shout out to Mr. Hood, Mrs. Jhoana Trujillo, Mrs. Allison Sharp, and Mrs. Raquel Garcia for
helping out with the organization. This event is always a lot of work and preparation,
followed by a fun celebration at the final running event.
Beginning tomorrow, we will be kicking off our long list of end-of-the-year activities with spring assessment day. If you haven't already signed up for a time or need a reminder, please sign up or check out your teacher's sign-up slots by clicking the Link Here. This will be an attendance day and students are required to stay the entire 90 minutes. If you have any questions regarding this day and the times, please contact your child's teacher.
Teaching Retirement
Congratulations to Mrs. Hearnen! Mrs. Hearnen is currently one of our English Language Development teachers but spent many years as a grade-level teacher (Notably 1st Grade) at Glacier Peak. She is celebrating her 20th year here at Glacier Peak. We will miss Mrs. Hearnen's thoughtfulness and instructional expertise, but most importantly her care and concern for students and families. We are super sad to be losing such a gem, but we are ready to cheer and support her as she takes on her new journey! I am so thankful that Mrs. Hearnen has been an integral part of our community. I know her legacy of always putting students first will carry on. Please join me in congratulating Mrs. Hearnen on her retirement! Her dedicated service to Glacier Peak will never be forgotten. Please take the opportunity to thank and celebrate Mrs. Hearnen in your own way as we approach the end of the school year.
School Website
At some point over the summer, the district will be transitioning to a new webpage format for both Adams 12 District Website and the Glacier Peak School website. We are still learning the new format as well. Please know that when the website transition is completed, it may be missing some items. Once we see the final website, we will add to it and adjust as necessary.
Animals on District and School Grounds
A reminder, that while many of us have our own dogs and other animals at home, it is Adams 12 District Policy that no dogs or other animals are allowed on school property, especially during arrival and dismissal time. Thank you for your understanding.
We have numerous important dates for the end of the year. I will continue to communicate any changes through email and text.

Student Technology Devices:
Adams 12 Five Star Schools is excited to announce that students in grades 3-11 will be able to keep their district-issued Chromebooks over the summer. This move is part of the district’s work to ensure it is offering equitable access to technology for all Five Star students and a push to make sure students have continued access to learning resources over the summer.
“Technology connects students to a huge array of learning opportunities, no matter where they are,” Interim Director of Student Learning Pathways and Online Programming Mary Beth Bazzanella said. “Students who keep their Chromebooks over the summer will be able to stay engaged with learning resources, which will help them get next school year off to a strong start.”
Students can log in and enjoy summer reads with SORA. Students will have access to grade-level content all summer long.
Field Day
Our field day will be held on Friday, May 20th in the afternoon. More information will be coming from Mr. Hood.
Yearbooks are here!
