Shark Scoop
January 2023
Principal, Mr. Marker
Dear Naples Park Families,
Happy 2023! I hope you had an amazing Holiday and are ready for the best year ever.
Our Sharks are back and taking a bite out of education! I hinted last month my excitement to boast about our Shark performance, and they did not disappoint. As a school, combining Kindergarten through 5th grade, we rose three places with our iReady diagnostic rankings compared to other CCPS elementary schools. A gain like this in just a year is simply outstanding. Your family support for your child’s academic effort and inspiration is very appreciated.
Our assessment window continues for the next couple weeks, and I anticipate nothing but more good news as I see how hard our teachers are working for your children, and how hard your children are working on their learning. It really is a great thing to be a part of #teamshark. 🦈
I want to thank our PTO and community for making our annual Breakfast with Santa/Winter Festival such an amazing success. I had heard of this legendary Naples Park Elementary event, and now I understand why. It was Jawsome to see so many of our families out having fun on that amazing morning.
It is good to be at Naples Park Elementary School…Home of the Sharks. 🦈
Sincerely,
Christopher Marker
Principal of the Naples Park Sharks
Assistant Principal, Mrs. Summers

Leader in Me
Habit 4: Think Win Win
Meaning:
Win-win is a frame of mind and heart that seeks mutual benefit in all human interactions. It’s based on the paradigm that there’s plenty for everybody-that one person’s success is not achieved at the expense of others.
Language:
Everybody can win!
· I can problem solve when an issue comes up with another person
· I think about what other people want and no just what I want
· I am kind to others and try to think of ways to help everyone to be happy
Activity:
Select an issue that has created a struggle between you and your children. It could be something such as more technology or video games, or doing something you’re not sure you want them to do. Sit down and discuss it. Lay all the relevant issues and feelings on the table. Determine what would constitute a win for each person involved and try to come up with a true win-win solution. Discuss together how you feel when the solution is reached. Choose areas in your family life that need additional cooperation, teamwork, and better attitudes. Write each on a note and put them all in a hat. Have your children draw notes out of the hat one at a time and explain what they would do to make the situation a win for everyone.
Clinic Corner, Nurse Angela
Our NPE Clinic is in need of children’s clothes sizes 4-16 for boys and girls. If you have any gently used clothing your child has out grown, please send them to the front office. Thank you for your help!
