Final Weekly Update - June 25, 2020
Dear Selby Families,
Thank you to everyone who was able to come and gather their final belongings and give a final wave to our staff. It really meant a lot to us to offer a bit of closure to this year and send our good wishes for an amazing summer.
This past week grade 8 students came to the school to receive their diplomas, a swag bag filled with goodies and were able to take a photo in front of the school. This 'walk up graduation' was not how we would have chosen to celebrate our graduates, but we feel fortunate that we are able to have this moment with them and provide some closure to their years at Selby.
We wish our graduates all the best and know that they are prepared for the adventures that lie ahead of them. Last Friday, all grade 8 families their virtual Graduation ceremony through their Google Classroom. Valedictorians Corbin Alford and Isabelle McFarlane did an amazing job in capturing the voice of their peers. We hope our graduates enjoyed watching this ceremony and were able to celebrate with family. We are so proud of all our graduates!
Congratulations to the Class of 2020!
Report cards have been mailed out this week. A letter from Director Rantz will be included with your child's report card that explains the use of the letter "I" on this report due to school closures. Please check your mailboxes.
Due to the uncertainty for what next year will look like, we will not be sharing class placements for September. More information will come about this later in August.
Please know how much we appreciate the support of our families during these unique times this year. We feel confident in the strong foundation we have continued to build with our families and truly know how important the home/school connection is to supporting our kids. We all want what is best for your children. Thank you for your partnership.
We wish you a safe and happy summer break and look forward to the time when we can see you all again.

Return to School Survey for Families
As was shared on June 19, 2020, the Ministry of Education has released three potential scenarios for the reopening of public schools in the fall for the 2020-2021 school year.
While KFL&A Public Health and the Ministry of Education are likely to direct much of the structure of learning and school operations when schools re-open, the Limestone District School Board would like your feedback when considering return-to-school planning.
We ask that you take a few minutes to answer these questions to help us with our planning for September. The anonymous survey will take about 10 minutes to complete. Please complete one survey per family.
The survey will be open until Tuesday, June 30, 2020.
All registrations can be completed online and the link to access this is below. If you are having difficulty, please send a direct email to our general mailbox (firstname.lastname@example.org) with details of how best to reach you. We look forward to welcoming our new kindergarten friends!
