The Hobbit Summary

The Hobbit is a best selling novel written by J.R.R. Tolkien.The story follows Bilbo Baggins a hobbit who has no interest in adventures at all,but one day Gandalf a very powerful wizard turns his world upside down. Gandalf has been helping a group of dwarves to steal back a treasure stolen by the mighty dragon Smaug. Because of Bilbo's mothers side Bilbo go's on this great adventure. On the way Bilbo faces many hardships from monsters to starvation. Will this possible hero survive?

The Ordinary World

Our story begins at the hobbit hole of Bilbo Baggins an average little hobbit who love his nice and quiet home with lot's of meals.

The Call to Adventure

One day Mr.Baggins received a visitor but not just any visitor for this was Gandalf a very powerful and adventurous wizard with him he had 13 dwarves these dwarves were on an adventure to slay the dragon smaug and take back the dwarves gold.

Refusal of the Call

At first Bilbo was hesitant of this quest as most hobbits are,but because of Bilbo's family on his mother's side or the Took side he was curious about the adventure and went along.

Meeting with the Mentor

Gandalf had convinced the dwarves of letting Bilbo come along by creating a sign on his door that read "Burglar wants a good job, plenty of Excitement and reasonable Reward"because of this Gandalf had became a sort of mentor to Bilbo and the dwarves.

Cross the Threshold

When on the Journey they encounter a group of trolls at this point Bilbo's nice and quiet life began to slip away.

Tests, Allies, and Enemies

Bilbo's friends/allies include the dwarves,Gandalf,the elves,and Beorn.His enemies include trolls,goblins,wargs,Gollum,wood elves,giant spiders,and the dragon Smaug

The Approach

Thorin and Co plan to sneak into Smaugs lair in order to take back the gold that was stolen Bilbo needs to be the one to sneak in first as he is the burglar and has a magic ring that makes him invisible

Ordeal

Bilbo faces the dragon Smaug and his persuasive words because of this he is nearly burned to death,but using his quick wits he manages to escape.Afterward he witnesses the Battle of the Five Armies

Reward

On this journey Bilbo grows more confident and sure of himself while also obtaining a good share of precious metals,and a suit of elven armor

The Road Back

On his return home he doesn't know how to feel he feels happy that he is going back to his hobbit hole yet sad that his adventure is over

Resurrection

When Bilbo returns home he finds it's been put up for auction by people who think he's dead while he manages to get almost everything back he loses a great deal of respect

Return with the Elixir

Bilbo isn't as respected as he was in the past,but he has grown more confident and adventurous this may lead him to go on another adventure
