Calling all families that have a student or students who will be 5 by August 31st, 2023. We are getting ready for our Kindergarten Orientation for 23/24. Kindergarten Orientation - April 19th & 26th

Helpful Hints for Drop off/Pick up

  • If you are in the pick up line, please remain inside your vehicle. Once students are safely on the sidewalk please move forward so traffic can flow smoothly.
  • If you park in the lot, please walk your student to the side walk regardless of their age. Students are not permitted in the parking lot unattended for their safety.
  • Please always use the crosswalks
  • If someone else is picking up or dropping off your student, please let them know these helpful hints

Students will be attending a performance at the Lied Center: It's OK to Be Different. Students will leave Sunset on March 7th at 9:30am. Please make sure your student is on time so that they can attend.

Exciting news in PE!

We will be having a student teacher Ms. Hoeth after Spring Break. She attends KU and has been teaching at Lawrence High. She will be here until May.
Marathon Club news!!

Marathon Club news!!

Sunset Hill has received $325 from Run Lawrence from their Thanksgiving Day 5K. The proceeds go to area marathon clubs. They will also pay for our Stridetrek subscription which keeps track of all the laps we run. We are so thankful for this community partner!! I will keep you posted on when we will resume Marathon Club in the Spring.

March Books Madness for 2023 will begin right after Spring Break on Monday, March 20. Students will listen to books each day and then vote for the books they liked best in a single elimination bracket tournament. The Championship will be decided on Friday, April 7. The bracket of books is below.

Healthy Futures Dental Clinic

Healthy Futures Dental Clinic

As a reminder, the Healthy Futures Dental team will be back to Sunset Hill on March 20th and possibly the 21st 2023. If your child is in need of a primary dental home you can still enroll at the link below. You do not need to sign up if you have previously done so this school year. If further work is needed outside of the preventative care, the Healthy Futures team will work with you to get an appointment set up at their main clinic, Heartland Community Health Center. Healthy Futures accepts Medicaid, Commercial Insurance, and the uninsured. There is NO COST to you even if your child is uninsured or not fully covered through commercial insurance. For any additional questions regarding the school-based dental program reach out to the Healthy Futures team via email healthyfutures@heartlandhealth.org or by phone 785-841-7297 ex 5601.
