Hello, Families!
I hope you had a wonderful week!
Today marks the end of second quarter. The first half of second grade went by quickly! Students prepared for their informational writing assessment this week, and took the assessment over two days. One Writer's Workshop period was devoted to writing their informational pieces, and the other was used to edit their pieces for capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions. Have a wonderful weekend!
Please ask your child:
Writing
- What did you write for your informational writing pieces?
- What did you do to edit your work?
Reading
- What did you learn about suffixes?
- When do you add -es to the end of a word to make a noun plural?
- Show me your new reading log. What are you currently reading?
Math
- You now know how to do addition with problems like 27 +14. Show me how you carry!
- You now know how to do subtraction with problems like 34 - 26. Show me how you borrow!
Please continue to encourage your child's use of IXL at home to support the learning at school!
