Family Newsletter-March 2022
Happy ALMOST Spring!
PBIS Corner:
Happy (almost) Spring! It’s Mrs. Wilbur from the PBIS room. Our students are all becoming experts at practicing our Binns ABCs; always be safe, be responsible, come respectful. We got some brand-new visual reminders in our building so that we can always find our expectations and follow them. In PBIS related news, we have been trying to offer enriching lessons on social-emotional skills and issues to students. In the intermediate hallway, we will have a police officer coming to speak about phone and internet safety on March 1st and the People Like Me Project will be working with students as well. In the primary hallway, Mrs. Wilbur will offer specialized SEL lessons each month. We will continue to add events and foster conversations with students about social, emotional, physical, and mental well-being and encourage you to do the same! Please consider joining one of our family sessions with Lori Ludwig. She is fantastic at teaching adults and students about self-regulation, de-stressing, mindfulness, and so much more! Our next family session is on March 8th at 7:00pm.

State Testing is coming up! Below you will see a schedule listed of when your students will be testing and which subject. As we approach those dates there are a few things to keep in mind!
1. Be ON TIME
2. Get a good night's sleep
3. Eat a filling and healthy breakfast
4. Do NOT schedule any appointments
5. Encourage your students
6. Give POSITIVE words of affirmation
We will be doing special things for our testing students. Our K-2nd grade hallway is adopting a class in our 3rd-5th grade hallway. We will make sure to encourage them and be their biggest cheerleader. We will also be sending home things for you to send back to encourage your students. Please join us in CHEERING our students on to SUCCESS!!
The Afterschool Stem Program
Students spent the last 3 weeks working with The Past Foundation and covermymeds-- learning about The Design Process, coding, and using the
X & Y axis for movement inside the grid world of Scratch. Students created digital stories using different multimedia tools in The Scratch program.
Students who were not able to attend can still explore MIT's Scratch website. The tutorials are a great way to get started.
Students should set up an account to save their work.
