Families are reminded that this Friday, March 31st, will be a late start day for students. The school day will begin at 9:57 a.m. Buses will run on a two hour delay schedule. Lunch will be served as usual.

Late Start Day for Students - March 31, 2023

MFE Teacher of the Year Program
It’s the time of year when the Milton Foundation for Education recognizes the extraordinary contributions made by MPS educators! The MFE is asking for nominations for Teacher of the Year in each school. Please take a moment to nominate an exceptional teacher here. All details can be found at this link.
Pierce Spring Track Season
The Pierce track and field team will begin its season the week of April 3rd. Track and field is open to all Pierce students. Click here for more information regarding registration and schedules shared by coach John O’Leary. Mr. O’Leary can be reached at joleary@miltonps.org.
Welcoming Dr. Burrows to Milton
Over the course of the next few months, before he officially begins on July 1st, incoming Superintendent Peter Burrows will be spending periodic days in Milton to learn more about our schools and community. His priorities on these pre-entry visit days will be to spend time inside schools and meet people, support decision making around current and future needs in the district, and lay the groundwork for the start of the 2023-2024 academic year. SBIRT Screenings for 8th Graders
This Wednesday, March 29th, district nurses will be completing SBIRT screening for all grade 8 students. Information about the SBIRT screening has been published in the superintendent’s blog.

The 2022 - 2023 Pierce Yearbook is now on sale. Yearbooks typically sell out, so be sure to reserve your copy now by visiting this link.
Private School Plans
If you have made the decision to send your child to another school (private, parochial or different school district) for next year, please contact your child's school counselor with that information. We are in the process of planning next year's classes/teams and need to have this information as soon as possible.
Concert Updates
The Music in Our Schools Month Grades 5-12 Band Concert has been rescheduled to Tuesday, April 4th, at 6:30 p.m. in the MHS Auditorium. The Spring Jazz Night featuring Pierce and MHS Jazz Ensembles has been rescheduled to Tuesday, April 11th, at 6:30 p.m. in the MHS Auditorium.
SEPAC Updates

Participate: We will soon be saying goodbye to the leaders of our Pupil and Personnel Services, Mark Harrison (March 31) and Susan Maselli (June 30) This is a significant leadership transition for our community, and it is happening in conjunction with central leadership transition. Please stay tuned and engaged – this is an important time for us!
Advocate: Did you know you have a SEPAC school rep who meets monthly with your school principal to discuss staffing, programming, and issues of inclusion? Find your school representative here.
Educate: Attend the next SEPAC sponsored Federation for Children with Special Needs workshop: Evaluation and Eligibility Monday, March 27th 6:30 p.m., followed by Parent Speak. This workshop is on Zoom and will be presented in the Tucker School Library, followed by a Parent Speak meeting from 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
Sock Drive at Pierce
The Make the World a Better Place Club is holding a Sock Drive from March 27th - March 31st. Bring in new socks to support the homeless. Pink boxes will be located by the main entrance by the cafeteria doors. Please join us in Helping the Homeless!
Ramadan Food Drive
In partnership with Milton Muslim Neighbors and Milton Interfaith Clergy Association, MPS supports the Ramadan Food Drive.
From Thursday, March 22nd to Friday, April 21th, bring your donation of dry goods and hygiene items to any of our schools. Join your Muslim neighbor in this effort, as Ramadan is a very special time of year for Muslims to do good deeds. All details can be found here.
Congratulations to 6th Grader Nile Hennick!
The Boston Children's Museum has selected Nile as one of four area artists to create new posters for the entrance to the museum's KidStage exhibit. Nile was the only child selected to participate, and his artwork will be on display at the museum for several years. The poster will feature Nile's original characters "The Doom Shrooms," a group of chaos-creating cartoon mushrooms.
Milton Summer Enrichment
Summer fun at Milton Summer Enrichment is just around the corner! MSE is for students in rising grades K-8, takes place at Milton High School and runs from July 5-28, five days a week, 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Classes include academic enrichment, arts and crafts, sports and outdoor fun, technology and much more! The MSE Brochure will be available April 12th and registration begins April 25th on Family ID. Save the date for a fantastic July at MSE!
FAME Mattress Fundraiser
The FAME Mattress Fundraiser is BACK !!
WHEN: Saturday, April 9th, 10am-4pm
WHERE: Milton High School Auditorium
WHAT: Big savings on brand name mattresses, pillows, weighted blankets, sheets, massage chairs and more!! Funds raised go to supporting MPS music department programming, festivals and scholarships!

Food Services
Need lunch menus? They are always posted on the MPS Food Service website linked here. As a reminder, Massachusetts has extended free school meals for all students through the 2022-2023 school year. This means that one breakfast and one lunch each day will continue to be served at no cost to all students!
