Let’s Rodeo Houston!
Every year Katy ISD participates in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo art contest with different elementary schools taking turns on a 3-year cycle. Each campus is allowed to submit 12 pieces to be judged. There were 155 pieces of artwork total from Katy ISD elementary schools. This was Bethke’s first year to participate and we are thrilled with how our students did!
Thank you for your continued support of our Bethke Art Program.

BUS SAFETY REMINDERS!
We have been experiencing large numbers of bus referrals recently. We are asking for your help in reviewing the following bus rules with your students. This information is from the Katy ISD Website:
The Following Rules apply to students that are boarding, riding and exiting a school bus.
Bus Safety Rules
Students will board and exit the bus in an orderly manner at the designated Bus Stop nearest his or her home.
Arrive at the Bus Stop (5) minutes before the scheduled stop time, and wait a safe distance (3 giant steps) away from the curb.
Do not approach the bus until it has come to a complete stop and the air brake has been set. Students will then go to their assigned seats and sit in a safe position.
Books, band instruments, feet and other objects are to be kept out of the aisle at all times. If an object is too large to fit in the students lap while on the bus, then it is too big to be transported on the bus.
Pre-K and Kindergarten students must have a responsible adult or older sibling receive them at the bus stop at the end of the school day.
Bus Conduct Rules
Observe the same conduct that you do in your classroom, INCLUDING CELL PHONE USAGE.
Speak in a normal tone of voice, or an "inside voice".
Remain seated and facing forward in your assigned seat until it is time to exit the bus.
Keep all hands, feet, and other objects to oneself; avoid tampering with the bus equipment.
Use acceptable language – obscene, profane, unacceptable language and/or gestures is prohibited at all times on the bus.
Do not eat or drink on the bus.
No objects are to be thrown inside the bus or from the windows of the bus.
Follow ALL rules outlined in the District’s Discipline Management Plan and Student Code of Conduct, as well as any rules established by the driver.
The following rules will apply to student conduct on KISD Transportation, whether during an extra-curricular activity or regular route.
Guidelines for Disciplinary Action
The driver or other district employees will attempt to correct the misbehavior of the passengers.
If the district employees are unable to resolve the problem; the parent of the student will be notified.
If the problem is still unresolved, the principal will be notified as soon as possible.
The principal or designee will investigate the incident and notify the driver of the action taken.
If the misconduct is a violation of the Student Code of Conduct, the principal will send written notice of the violation to the student’s parents within 24 hours, in accordance with the law.
If determined necessary by the principal, a conference involving the principal, the student, the driver and the parents will be held.
The principal may suspend the student’s riding privileges or other listed behavior modifiers in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
Disciplinary sanctions and changes in transportation for a student with a disability will be made in accordance with provisions in the student’s Individual Education Plan.

Lunch Visitors Please Read!
Seating at lunch is extremely limited in our cafeteria for visitors due to continued increases in student enrollment.
Limit visits to birthdays or a maximum visit of once per week
Visitors limited to a maximum of 3 per student and must be persons who meet KISD visitor guidelines for elementary students.
Lunch visitors are restricted to parents/step-parents/guardians, non-school aged siblings, grandparents (with written permission from the parent) and campus mentors per GKC (REGULATION). Visitors do not include aunts, uncles, or neighbors.
Avoid Mondays, Fridays, and days before holidays, whenever possible.
Sit side by side at the visitor tables to provide maximum seating availability
Visitors must sit with their child only at a table designated for visitors
Due to Safety Rules, and guidelines from the Fire Marshall we cannot allow visitors sitting on the floor
Since our first obligation is to provide optimal seating for students, we will continue to monitor the number of visitors at lunch. If we continue to experience overcrowding with lunch visitors, we will consider implementing additional guidelines to ensure adequate seating during student lunches. We are hopeful that if all parents follow the requests listed above, our school will continue to have daily seating available for all who wish to have lunch with their child/ren. Thank you for your patience as our Bethke family continues to grow.
