Board of Education Strategic Plan
District Family Invitation
Woodland D50 Strategic Planning Process Will Begin Soon
The Woodland D50 Board of Education will soon begin developing a new 5-year Strategic Plan. Before the development work can begin, we need to hear from our Woodland stakeholders. There will be other feedback opportunities along the way, but we are asking everyone to help us kick-off the process by joining the online conversation today!
To refresh your memory about the goal areas and priorities from the previous Strategic Plan, please review the Strategic Plan Update report from June 2022.
Three Questions for Families to Consider
- First, share your thoughts and ideas.
- Then, rate the thoughts and ideas of others.
As the conversation continues to grow, it is important to check back in and rate the new thoughts. It may even inspire new ideas of your own!
The questions are designed to be open ended so that you can give us your feedback in your own words. Your participation is confidential, so no one will know who shared or rated which thoughts. This allows us all to focus on the idea itself, and not the people sharing the ideas.
IMPORTANT: Please do not share personally identifiable information about your child or use specific teacher or staff names. The system will hold back any thoughts that contain a specific name. That means even if you say something positive like, "Mr. Wiley is the best teacher!" the thought will not be shared with the other participants.

Strategic Plan Working Committees
The Board of Education will need a team of dedicated committee members to be part of the Strategic Plan development process. The challenge will be to find a diverse team that can represent many voices from a large district, but be a small enough team to make productive work of the four meetings. If your student or you would like to be considered for this team, please fill out this form.
Stakeholders include:
- Board of Education
- District Administrators
- School Administrators
- Woodland Staff Members
- Woodland Students
- Woodland Family Members
- Community Members
- Business and/or Community Partners
Strategic Plan Process & Timeline
November/December:
In addition to the conversations you have been invited to join above, there are several other components to consider before the development work begins. During the stakeholder input phase, we will also be using Thought Exchange conversations to gather input from Woodland staff members, as well as Woodland students!
Work is already underway among district and school administrators to evaluate strengths and weaknesses in relation to our previous strategic plan. This includes gathering data across the district on student success, discipline, test scores, demographics, staffing and more.
January:
After winter break, we will identify a group of stakeholders to be part of the Strategic Plan working committees, and have a kick-off meeting to conduct an analysis of the data and feedback collected in November and December. They will use all of this information to begin development of the plan.
February:
The Strategic Plan committees will meet twice in February to roll up their sleeves and do the heavy lifting of creating the goals and success criteria that will make up the majority of the Strategic Plan. This work will include a progression of how each goal will be tracked throughout the five years of the plan, as well as measuring each goal through a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens.
March:
The Strategic Plan committees will meet one last time to review a final draft of the plan to see how all of the work from the previous meetings comes together in one plan. The main goal of this meeting will be to finalize details of the plan, understand how implementation of the plan will work across all grade levels, and incorporate any additional feedback from stakeholders. The finished product from this meeting will be taken to the Board of Education on March 23, 2023 for consideration.
Timelines are tentative to allow for adjustment as needed as we work through plan development.
