Information for Teachers

Teacher Expectations

Western Boone County Community School Corporation will utilize eLearning Days for both planned and inclement weather days. Planned days will be used to provide staff development, whereas inclement weather days will be unscheduled and determined as necessary. For inclement weather eLearning days, teachers will still be notified by 6:00 AM.

Important Information

Scheduled Days

Platform:

  • Posting Deadline: 3:00PM in Canvas the previous day.


Amount of Total Work: Teacher Instruction + Student Work Time:

  • 35 to 40 minutes per subject at Jr. High and High School.

  • Elementary:

  1. Kindergarten (approximately 2 hrs.)
  2. 1st & 2nd (approximately 2 ½ hrs.)
  3. 3rd & 4th (approximately 3 hrs.)
  4. 5th & 6th (approximately 3 ½ hrs.)


Pertinent Content: Material assigned must maintain content sequence.

  • No canned lessons.

  • At elementary buildings content must include literacy, math, science, social studies, movement, music, and art.

  • Assignments should include objective, instruction and meaningful student practice activities.

  • No tests will be assigned for completion during the eLearning day.

  • Elementary assignments will be assessed for completion in each subject area.

  • Assignments may be graded for accuracy vs the completion grades previously given


Teacher Availability:
  • Teachers must be available to respond to student and parent questions between 1:30 and 3:00 via email or school phone.


Special Education:
  • Accommodations should be provided as written in their IEP. Read-aloud attachments will be utilized as appropriate. Life skill students will be given individualized goal related assignments/tasks.

Unscheduled Days

Platform:
  • Posting Deadline: 9:00 a.m. in Canvas.

  • If school is cancelled after a 2-hour delay, the posting deadline is 10:00 a.m. in Canvas.
