Bottle Caps
Liberty's bottle cap collection project last year was a huge success! Liberty families were responsible for saving over 1,500 pounds of plastic from going into our landfill! With those caps we were able to get 4 new benches for our school. We added two benches with backs to the front of the building and two benches without backs by the gym. We also created the Hawk mosaic on the front of the building.
We will be collecting bottle caps again this year. Please save your caps at home until after Christmas break. This year our goal will be to have picnic benches made for the school garden as well as an additional mural on the Star Shoot side of the school. This new mural will be student designed and created.
Please refer to the acceptable caps list here. All caps should be plastic with the recycle numbers of 2, 4, and 5. If there is any food on them please wash them thoroughly to prevent them from getting smelly and in case of allergies. To read more click here.
Any questions please contact Mr. Peterson.
STLP
STLP (Student Technology Leadership Program) is open to 4th and 5th grade students who show leadership in technology use. Students need to have a basic knowledge of the computer and how to maneuver through software. Our STLP group will be our competitive robotics team. We do have a limited number of spaces available, so it is necessary for students to apply for the positions.
If there are more responses that we can accommodate, it will be necessary to have a lottery. Appropriate behavior and work ethic is expected from all students as they are demonstrating leadership skills and using the technology that is available to them.
**In order to participate in the robotics club, it is MANDATORY that you can attend our competitions. We will be competing at Bryan Station High School on March 23, 2019 and possibly the Georgetown competition date TBA. If we do well, there is the opportunity to compete at the state level on April 18, 2019.
For questions or more information, contact Mrs. Caudill.
