Captain's Log
PASS CHRISTIAN PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT
Ahoy, Pirates!
I hope you have had a wonderful Easter and the opportunity to truly reflect on the importance of family and self-care during spring break. Easter marks a day that changed how we look at the grips of death. It signifies the overcoming of death and the promise of a better tomorrow. Further, it shows us what true victory is like.
We are living in what may become known as one of our nation's darkest moments with over 500,000 confirmed US cases of COVID-19--many here on the coast affecting people we know and love. I encourage you to feel empowered to BE the difference by following CDC guidelines. I am confident that we will continue to work together to move our state and nation beyond this unprecedented moment in time.
It is ours to carry the mission forward in a manner that creates a clear path to success for our children. In this final term of the school year, we must continue to be intentional about our practice by making a conscious decision to finish strong. Our students and families are depending on us to do so. Together, we will overcome!
Welcome back to teaching and learning PELA Style! School is not the same without you; WE MISS YOU! With that, I submit the Captain's Log. #nosurrender #2020vision #committedtoeXcellence #eXcellencemarksthespot cje

NEW! COVID-19 DISTRICT WEBPAGE
HONORING THE VISIONARY c/o 2020
As we anxiously await Governor Reeves' decision, we are also developing multiple graduation ceremony options. They have earned this rite of passage, and we will send them off in true Pirate fashion.
Elementary and Middle Schools, remember your children who are at the transition points as well. Find unique ways to celebrate them as we draw close to your scheduled completion ceremonies. Your PR liaisons, Renaissance chairs, and yearbook personnel may be helpful with celebration ideas and implementation.

AP COLLEGE BOARD_COVID-19 UPDATE
The health and safety of educators and students is the AP® Program’s highest priority. As schools and communities navigate the challenges posed by the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the AP Program has announced that it will support AP students with free, optional virtual learning and at-home AP testing. These resources will give students the opportunity to earn the college credit and placement they’ve been working toward all year.
Exams will be given from May 11–22, with makeup dates in June. Students will be able to take exams on any device they have access to—computer, tablet, or smartphone. Taking a photo of handwritten work will also be an option. If your students need mobile tools or connectivity, you can reach out to us directly to let us know by April 24. Each subject’s exam will be taken on the same day at the same time, worldwide. Additional details are available online.
