Myths About Financial Aid
Reality: Federal student aid includes three kinds of financial help: grants, low-interest loans, and work-study funds
"My parents make too much money, so I won't qualify"
Reality: There is no income cut-off to qualify for aid. Many factors such as the size of your family and your year in school- are taken into account. When filling out the FAFSA you are also applying for funds from your state and possibly school as well.
"My parents aren't US citizens so I won't be eligible"
Reality: Your parents' citizenship is NOT a factor, and the FAFSA form won't even ask about it.
If your parents do not have social security numbers, they enter 000-00-0000.
