A Full Week In!
Thank you in advance for your continued support with our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) roll out. This will be a three year implementation, so things will not change over night. But the vision is at our fingertips!
Our Elementary Vision:
To provide a safe and supportive learning environment where data-driven and meaningful instruction empowers students to be socially skilled, emotionally well, and academically successful.
In my study of Dr. Bailey's Book "The School Family" I came across these words that make a lot of sense to me and hope to our families as well.
"...to create a healthy school culture that prevents bullying from becoming a social norm, we must do three things. We must shift from a traditional "factory" model to a "family" model for creating optimal school climates. We must examine our relationship with power in order to ensure that our family model for the classroom is a healthy family model. And we must strengthen our focus on building the self-regulation skills of children in our care, so safety permeates all classrooms and each child increases his or her potential for success in life."
Know my aim as your principal is to work with our students, our staff, our families, and our community towards reaching this vision.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Goettl
Mentor Meeting Change
As with all new initiatives there are times of adjusting, rethinking, and improving. After conversations with our 4K staff and surveying our elementary staff we have decided it would be best to move our Mentor Meetings to Wednesday morning. This would mean that our youngest, 4K students, would not participate in the weekly Mentor meetings. These students will still have Mentors, who will make weekly connections with them, but it will be in a less formal way and will not remove them from their 4K setting. This will be more developmentally appropriate for them at this stage in their life and will still allow them access to their Mentor, who will be there for them until they complete 6th grade. If any family would like more information about this change, please do not hesitate to connect with me.
Pretzel - to Calm Down
One "Activity to Disengage Stress" part of our Brain Smart Start Routine every morning is to do the Pretzel! Ask your child(ren) to demonstrate this calming technique. Ask them if they remember another breathing technique.... (Balloon, Drain, STAR or Buzzy).
Below you will see a young student demonstrate the Pretzel Technique for Disengaging Stress.
Mr. Yeager’s Physical Education Update
Parents/Guardians,
I am truly excited to once again be a member of our Cadott Community. I am a graduate of Cadott High School, and I’ve enjoyed a long and interesting journey making my way back to my hometown. As your child’s Elementary Physical Education Teacher I look forward to getting to know each of you. This year is off to a great start, as our students are learning and living our hornet values (Be Respectful, Be Safe, Be Responsible). So far this year we have learned classroom protocols, practiced methods of communication, and worked on our ability to perform locomotor movements. While teaching in the Eau Claire Area School District for the past four years, I utilized technology to improve student learning and movement abilities. I witnessed much student success while using these resources (iPad, GoPro, interactive whiteboard applications, heart-rate monitors, etc.). As a teacher here in Cadott, I will continue to incorporate technology to assess student performance and provide students with quality classroom instruction. Furthermore, applying technology will allow me to ensure students enjoy a safe learning environment. Please take a look at my website, via the district staff directory. I enjoy parent feedback and look to establish open dialogue to better serve your children. The more I know, the more I can meet our students’ needs.
Sincerely,
Mr. Yeager
5th Grade students created an aquifer next to a lake to discover how our world naturally filters water using aquifers. We are focusing on how we can conserve water.
Cadott Elementary School Field Trips
Looking for Band Instruments!
Is your family like mine and you have a band instrument sitting in a hallway closet? If so, here's an idea for turning that into a tax write off!
Mr. Peters is looking for spare instruments and has provided me a great way to give back to my school and get that needed tax break.
Just take your instrument(s) to a Music Store for an appraisal. Take that written appraisal to the District Office and get a receipt for donation in that amount!
It is super easy!
Spread the word! Fortunately we have lots of students who are gaining interest in band, unfortunately band instruments are expensive. Help me in removing this barrier for our students by donating an instrument that is just hanging around gathering dust!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Goettl
Completing Free and Reduced Meal Forms Helps Our School!
Even if you know you will not qualify for Free and Reduced Meals or if you do and choose not to use this service, please consider filling out the paperwork anyway. Our school gets more funding when more families complete these forms.
Please consider...
If you need assistance with the paperwork, please do not hesitate stopping at any of our district offices.
Thank you!
Terri

Hello Families and Friends of Cadott Elementary - PACE would love your help!
PACE - People Active in Cadott Education
PACE is our school group that provides the funds and volunteer time for so many things for our children and families.
MEETINGS:
Everyone is welcome to our monthly meetings, including children. Often times there are other children present and we can always reserve the gym if we have many children present. We are not formal, we have fun, and our meetings usually only last an hour long. It is not required to be at every meeting, if you can make it to two out of the whole year that is awesome!
FUNDRAISING:
We are the fundraiser people, but these fundraisers provide so much goodness for our students and families.
VOLUNTEERING/DONATING:
Here are a few examples of how PACE funds are used directly for students: field trips, classroom games, weekly book drawings, this year the 4k classrooms got new trikes, field day, and so much MORE!
PACE also provides fun activities for our families: Bingo, Paint Party Night, Daddy Daughter Dance, Magician Night, Muffins for Mom/Donuts for Dad, Teacher Appreciation Week, and more!
New this year! PACE is providing all non-educational supplies: Kleenex, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, Ziploc Bags, paper plates, paper towels, kinder mats, assignment notebooks, and more! That is an average total savings for each student of about $35. If you have more than one student in the elementary PACE provides exceptional family savings!!!
If your family needs help with any other school supplies, headphones, backpack, etc. please contact PACE President, Meagan Sonnentag, email, mmsonnentag07@hotmail.com, or phone (920)904-4462, PACE will do whatever we can to help your child(ren) start the school year on the right foot, happy, and ready for everything!
PACE would also like everyone to know that your monetary donations are always welcome! They can be dropped off in the elementary office with Ms. Lockbaum or Mrs. Miley.
Thank you! PACE volunteers

The JV and Varsity Volleyball Team is playing Osseo Fairchild on September 21st and would love to have the youth volleyball players come in with their "warm-ups" or Cadott shirts to make a presence. We will have the young girls line up so when the Varsity girls run in they can high five the youth. We would also like them to sit together and get loud and show their hornet spirit... a special section for them to sit in will be available.
The young girls are encouraged to make signs, but no noise makers...
If there are non volleyball players who'd like to join in the fun, that'd be great too!!!
We will gather in the hallway off the commons at 6:40 pm to get them all on the same page! We hope to pack the gym.
