Why I Chose This Topic.....
I chose music therapy because I love music. I have always loved music. It's a healing point for me. Which is why I'm going to teach you about music therapy for memory. You might just learn about how to use your music for better purposes.
What is Music Therapy?
Music Therapy is the process of using well known music from classic hits to show tunes and top Broadway shows. It can recall memories and emotions in people who have memory problems.
The Brain......
What is going on in the brain......
Singing studies activated more than just the brain and the parts used in singing. As singing activated the left side of the brain, listening to music boosted activity in the right and watching the study activated visual parts of the brain.
What parts are being used.... failing?
The left, right, and visual areas of the brain are being used to recall memories. The amygdala, hippocampus, cortex, and visual system start failing.
Other theories addressing this topic....
There arent any other theories that address this topic.
Research
Neurologist Oliver Sacks did a study and came to the conclusion that "Music evokes emotion, and emotion can bring with it memory… it brings back the feeling of life when nothing else can." and Dr. Jane Flinn from George Mason University says the study should encourage caregivers.
Interesting Stuff
I find it very interesting that listening to music and singing can help bring back memories that you lost during your life. Music is already a beautiful, amazing thing that is taken for granted, but it can also help your brain....... that is so amazing.
