PBL TIMELINE - YOU ARE HERE
Should Already Be Complete:
- Qtr 2 Entry Event, research, tasks, rubrics
- Evidence of PBL in displayed student work throughout the hall and in classrooms
- Students should be working on revising culminating tasks based on feedback and preparing for their showcase presentation/experience.
PBL To Do This Week:
- Prepare students for PBL Showcase based on the admin feedback you received Friday.
- Invite parents to the PBL Showcase!
Minimum expectations based on pd and coaching thus far include:
- SEL practices that include the connections circle, restorative and affective language, and Second Step lessons
- Clear and consistently used classroom management routines and procedures that include usage of LiveSchool, positive feedback, and both timely and well-monitored transitions.
- Data-driven small group instruction that includes a teacher-led instructional group, standards-driven tasks, and consistently used management tools such as timers, task cards, roll assignments, and team points.
- Standards-focused PBL integration that follows a complete project calendar.
While observations do not have to be announced, if you would like to request a specific time due to circumstances (such as an upcoming absence, field trip, etc.), contact Mrs. Kemp asap.
Instructional Resource of the Week
PhET provides fun, free, interactive, research-based science and mathematics simulations. We extensively test and evaluate each simulation to ensure educational effectiveness. These tests include student interviews and observation of simulation use in classrooms. The simulations are written in Java, Flash or HTML5, and can be run online or downloaded to your computer. All simulations are open source (see our source code). Multiple sponsors support the PhET project, enabling these resources to be free to all students and teachers.
