A Note from Mrs. Nichols
Dear Weaverville Elementary Families:
I am always amazed when we reach the last week of the school year. In some ways it feels like we only just started! I've enjoyed my first year at Weaverville Elementary immensely.
As we close out this school year, I want to express my deepest gratitude or your partnership and trust in our staff throughout the year. I can see how the partnership between our school and the families of our students makes our school one of the best.
I hope you all enjoy your summer break. I am looking forward to a fun-filled and successful 23-24 school year, and I'll be sending information about the start of the school year as we get closer to the end of August.
Here are some final reminders of the year:
3rd Grade Parents: Would you like to volunteer to help set up for the 4th grade promotion? We'll need some help with decorations. If you're interested, please email me at Mary.nichols@bcsemail.org before Wednesday, May 31st.
Volunteer Breakfast is Monday, June 5th. If you volunteered in any capacity this year, we invite you to spend some time after drop-off enjoying coffee and breakfast pastries in our staff lounge.
Lost & Found Cleanup will be June 6, 7, and 8. Please find time to stop by the school and look through our MANY coats and sweatshirts!
Thanks for all you do to support your child's success at school each day!

COVID Updated Protocols
If a student tests positive for COVID (at home or at a healthcare provider), they would isolate for 5 days from when their symptoms began. We will recognize the guidelines established by the CDC and NCDHHS regarding the use of a face covering to be worn for days 6-10 upon return to school.
Our normal exclusionary symptoms of fever, diarrhea, and vomiting are in effect. If a student has a fever, diarrhea, or vomiting, they must remain at home until symptoms are resolved for 24 hours.
Hand hygiene, enhanced cleaning protocols, and improved ventilation are all still priorities and important mitigating strategies.
Face coverings remain optional, to be worn by anyone at anytime.
Physical distancing such as 3 ft or 6 ft apart is no longer required.
Contact tracing is not required.
Following the guidelines established by the CDC and NCDHHS, MAHEC will not be providing rapid antigen testing in our schools. Staff and families may order at home tests for free via this link: https://www.covid.gov/tests.
MAHEC will send home further guidance regarding when students need to stay home due to an illness.
For students where an absence is Covid related please indicate this in your parent or health provider's note.
Students/teachers will follow the same guidelines for makeup work as they would for any other illness or injury.
