Principal Notes 12/18/2015
St. Cecilia School
Notes from the Principal
Thank you to Mr. Stanley and Mrs. Wendt for such a great Christmas Concert! Thank you to the students for all their hard work and awesome performance…parents, you should all be proud of all of your children!
Deck the Halls!
We’d love to deck the halls of St. Cecilia School with everyone’s favorite Christmas sweater/sweatshirt/t-shirt, santa hats, headbands, ties, etc. on Tuesday, December 22nd. This is for our St. Cecilia School staff and students. You are welcome to wear your uniform pants or jeans or athletic pants (no shorts). Please note that any hats or headbands will need to be removed for Stations of the Nativity at 9 a.m. that day. This is of no charge, we just want to get everyone in the Christmas spirit!
December 22nd – Early Dismissal at 1:30 p.m.
Just a reminder that we get out at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22nd. The school and office will close immediately after dismissal that day and reopen on Monday, January 4, 2016. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Dear Parents of All Talented St. Cecilia Students,
The St. Cecilia Talent Show will be presented in conjunction with Catholic Education Week and will be open for the public to attend! It is currently scheduled for Sunday afternoon, January 31 following the pasta lunch. Auditions will be held the week of January 4. There will be a sign up for audition times online very soon. More information will be forthcoming.
Notes from Mrs. Dubois - Physical Education
Now that winter is here, please be sure to send tennis shoes with your child to school on their PE day(s). Many students are showing up to class with boots which mark up our gym floor. So, if they don't have proper footwear they are not able to participate in our PE classes.
Third-Fifth Graders Roller Skating
Third through fifth graders will be roller skating starting January 25th. Permission/skate size slips have gone home and need to be returned by January 4th. Thanks to our school for providing the funding for this fun activity! Parent volunteers are needed on Monday-Tuesday mornings to help with tying skates and helping students during their skating time. Please contact Mrs. DuBois at email@example.com if you are able to assist during any of our five skating days, but especially on January 25-26.
Jump Rope for Heart
Jump Rope for Heart is coming in February during heart month. Stayed tuned for more details on this pawsitively great activity which has a dog theme this year and helps to raise funds for the American Heart Association!
FSA Meal Sign Ups
FSA is beginning something new this year to include all families in on the meal sign ups (new baby, illness, death, etc.) With families having multiple children in different grade levels, this is an easy way for all to see who is bringing a meal or where a meal might be needed. We encourage you to notify the office if you are a family in need as well as to sign up to bring a meal.

After Mass – Classroom Receptions – One Date Still Open!
Once a month each class will be sponsoring the all-school Mass and reception following Mass. We are looking for a couple of volunteers to help get the reception set-up and help the class that is sponsoring it. Basically you would just show up for Mass about 20 minutes early - stop by the office where Lois and Tilda will have everything ready for you take to the social hall to set up and get the coffee started. After Mass, you can help serve the cookies and drinks and clean-up after the reception. You probably don't want to sign-up to help at the Mass that your child is sponsoring because you will be invited to attend the reception with them. If you are interested in helping with one (or more!) of these receptions, please sign up at the following site:
