UCISD Updates and Celebrations

What a Start!

The 2020-2021 School Year has begun and it has definitely come with plenty of challenges, but we are so fortunate to have the resources we do at Uvalde CISD. Thanks to the TEA Blended Learning Grant Program, we have students using IXL in Math classes across the district to help "close the gaps" in student learning. We are amazed at the leaps and bounds that students have made already and can't wait to see how they continue to grow throughout the year!

District IXL Achievement

Below you will see that our students have already answered a total of 339,658 questions this year in IXL. IXL is designed to support students toward authentic skill mastery, and research shows this approach works. When students consistently reach proficiency and mastery of IXL skills, schools see as much as a 16-point bump on state assessments. Research shows that schools, where students answer at least 15 questions per week, outperform all the others (IXL.com). This year, the campuses that must use IXL for the TEA Blended Learning Grant are Dalton, Robb, Flores, and Batesville Elementary for grades Kindergarten, 3rd, and 6th. However, every student in the district in grades PK-8th grade have access to IXL for Math. For questions about how to get your student logged in to IXL, please reach out to your child's Math teacher.
Big picture

Campus Achievement

Schools that use IXL across all grade levels see greater growth on state assessments and IXL schools are outperforming others! And the longer they use IXL, the better they do. Research also shows that school performance continues to improve after using IXL for 2 and 3 years. Check out how great the schools within Uvalde CISD are doing using IXL!

iPad Update!

New student and teacher iPads are about a month out from arrival and we are so excited to get these new learning tools in our students' hands! The iPads we will receive will come with a durable case, keyboard, and they will be 8th generation iPads that were just launched by Apple a couple of weeks ago! An iPad Agreement Form will be pushed out through Skyward in the coming week, so please be on the lookout for communication from UCISD on this important step.
