Ms. Harris' Weekly Update
October 24th-28th
What's Going On This Week
- Science: We are finalizing our sound unit this week. Students have a study guide for their unit test on Friday. Sections of the study guide are due each day. In class we will be reviewing sound by participating in a science court case. Next week we will begin our next unit on Animals and Plants.
- Ms. Shipp's Social Studies: This week we will start studying the original 13 colonies. There will be a vocabulary quiz next Tuesday.
- Mrs. Thurston's ELA/Math: This week we are starting single digit multiplication and division. We will also talk review fact families. In reading, we will start Text Features. Spelling test Friday! Words will start coming home on Fridays instead of Mondays starting this week. We will also finish our spooky stories for October!
- Ms. Harris' GT ELA/Math: This week we will be exploring the election process by reading a class novel, "The Kid Who Ran For President." Students will also be learning election vocabulary and polling practices. I am excited about the discussions that will come from this mini unit. I have asked students, though, to not bring personal opinions on candidates into class. This is about the election process overall not the two candidates running for office this year. In math we will be wrapping up single digit multiplication and division. Students will take a quiz on Wednesday on Multiplicative Comparisons and Translating Expressions.
