The Roadrunner Review

December 2nd, 2022

Notes from the Principal

Thank you for your continued patience at the end of the day during parent pick-up on Carl Street. The construction crew is almost finished with the front circle drive as they are now pouring concrete to create our new sidewalk. When that is complete we will open up the front circle drive and go back to the end-of-day procedures that we had last year. I will send specific information about this after the sidewalk is complete.

November's Goal

Today the Neighbor's Place visited Riverview and picked up all 673 items! We surpassed our goal of 500 items collected. Congratulations to our 1st grade students and teachers who led us through a wonderful fundraiser for our community. They demonstrated their understanding of Habit 2, which is 'Begin With the End in Mind,' and Habit 6, which is 'Synergize.' We want to also thank all the families who donated the items to the Neighbor's Place, as it is much appreciated.

December's Goal

During the month of December, our fourth graders wanted to set a goal based on School Spirit! Using what we have been learning about Leader in Me, we are following these four main components of goal setting:

Discipline 1 - Focus on the Wildly Important

  • Our goal is to have 50% of staff and student participate in dress-up days for the month of December.

Discipline 2 - Act on Lead Measures

  • Students will record updates and reminders on announcements and for newsletters

Discipline 3 - Keep a Compelling Scoreboard

  • At the end of each day, 4th graders will "collect" the total and calculate if the goal has been met for the day. Our scoreboard will be building a snowman on our bulletin board.

Discipline 4 - Create a Cadence of Accountability

  • Students will update their scoreboard and celebrate if we met our goal!

Notes from the Nurse

The Wausau School District is offering Covid-19 testing again this year, but only to Wausau School District staff members and current Wausau School District students. We are not able to offer testing to family members and the broader community. We are offering both the antigen and PCR tests at no cost to you. Staff will need to show their Wausau School District badge to receive a test. Students should also have a parent or caregiver with them. There has also been a change to the testing sites. The Wausau School District will only have four site locations available.

We will not be using a mobile van site, but locations within our buildings. Please see the schedule below for instructions and availability.

Covid-19 Testing Schedule and Locations:

Wausau East High School (Monday-Thursday): 7:00 -10:30 a.m.

Testing on the east side of the building. Look for a COVID testing vehicle and signs telling you which door to enter

Wausau West High School (Monday-Thursday): 11:15 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.

Testing is on the north side of the building. Look for a COVID testing vehicle and signs telling you which door to enter

Rib Mountain Elementary School (Tuesday-Friday): 8:00 - 11:00 a.m.

Enter through the Front Door

Longfellow Administration Building (Tuesday-Friday): 11:45 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.

Testing is on the east side of the building. Look for a COVID testing vehicle and signs telling you which door to enter.

Just a reminder if your child is not feeling well to please keep them home until their symptoms have improved.

With the Holidays approaching we would like to work together to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
