RMS Weekly Event Calendar
April 24 - April 28
What's going on this week!
We had an exciting week at Russellville Middle School last week. We finished up our Aspire testing and also had a great night celebrating the Russellville City School System! I want to personally thank all of you that worked diligently in making it a huge success...especially Mrs. Smith and her helpers... and for all of you that came out and supported our schools and our students on Thursday evening. It definitely was a great night to be a Golden Tiger!
As we celebrated Tiger Pride Night, I thought about the tradition of excellence and the pride that all of us have in our schools and our school system. But what is "pride" exactly and what does it really mean? I looked up the definition in the dictionary and this is what I found:
Pride (noun)...
1. a high or inordinate opinion of one's own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as displayed in bearing, conduct, etc.
2. the state or feeling of being proud.
3. pleasure or satisfaction taken in something done by or belonging to oneself or believed to reflect credit upon oneself.
4. something that causes a person or persons to be proud.
I believe this definition perfectly describes how we feel about what we do. We work hard each day so that we are the best we can be. We take great pleasure and satisfaction in doing what we do and in making a difference in the lives of our students. We know that we are important to our school and the overall success of our school system and that our contributions help promote its excellence. We also know that without "pride", there is no value, no desire, and no effort.
The result of the "pride" that we feel each day is the excellence that we see in our schools and the tradition that we have held for so many years. When I look around, I see a school system made up of people that love being here and love what they do which is reflected in their actions each day.
On Thursday, when I looked at the RMS booth, I was reminded of all the amazing things we are doing at RMS. I felt an overwhelming sense of pride. So be proud of yourself! You deserve it. Let's take pride in our success and our accomplishments and enjoy every minute of it!
