Update on COVID-19 at Lauriston School-9 May, 2022

Kia ora Koutou ma whanau o te kura Kotoku ko Lauriston,

A big thank you to those families who remembered to keep us in the loop on their family and child/children’s situation over the weekend.

We have 4 active COVID-19 cases in our school - This brings total cases in the school to:

7 families isolating

10 students isolating

4 students positive

2 staff isolating

Classroom numbers: Mt Winterslow-Opihako (0), Mt Somers-Maungakiekie (4), Mt Alford-Te Maka Kaha (0), Mt Harper-Mahaanui (0) and Mt Hutt-Huirapa (0).

As stated last week, we are keeping a close eye on cases developing within the senior school, and are seeing cases increase in this area. Based on today’s numbers we are asking all Year 4-6 students to return to wearing masks indoors. Teachers and students from Mt Somers and Mt Winterslow have already begun wearing masks in the classroom as of today. We have a supply of masks on site, but families and students may wish to use their own masks from tomorrow if they are not already, with this safety measure back in place for now within our school. We will review this decision in two weeks time on Friday the 20th of May.

Nga mihi nui

Colin Brodie, Principal
