Weekly Update for Week of May 30 - June 3
Good Evening Brightwood Family, this is Principal Stokes!
Welcome to another great week of learning. This is reminder that our doors open at 7:00 am and tardy bell rings at 7:25 am. Please remember that everyone should be prepared to show identification card when picking up a student early which should be for emergencies and appointments should be done before 1:45 pm.
Our 5th grade students will take their 5th Grade Science assessment on Tuesday May 31st, 2022. Our Kindergarten – 3rd grade students are currently being administering their End of Year assessments.
All EOG testing and make ups will begin at 8:00 am sharp. All students must on time, or they will have to placed in a holding area and scheduled to take make ups and the last day for testing is June 3 no exceptions.
This is our last week of school and we need for students give it their all this week. We will have a very busy week this week. We will have our award’s program this week for grades 1-4 on Thursday during their specials and we will also livestream the program. We will have Kindergarten promotional ceremony on June 1st at 9:00 am and Fifth Grade promotional ceremony June 2nd at 6:00 pm at Northeast High School we will be limiting each student to 2 guest per family due security reasons as well as health reasons. We are also asking that if you not vaccinated or have serve health issues that you please wear a mask for your protection as well the protection of the others when attending the Kindergarten and/or fifth grade promotional ceremonies.
Parents, we are in great need of your support in making sure that all students are their proper rest. Please create a set schedule that limits your child’s screen time, phone time, and TV time so that your child will have a reasonable amount of sleep to function in school and during testing. We are experiencing a lot of students sleeping throughout the day and rushing during the test so that they can go to lay their heads down. 3rd – 5th grade EOG scores were sent home on Friday please review the scores with your child. If you have questions or concerns, please be sure to contact us here at the school.
We have collected devices from all students last week. We have several students that are missing their charger. Students need their devices to take their state assessments this year, it is hard for them to use their devices if they do not have their chargers. Devices and chargers will remain at school for the reminder of school year.
The district has provided new One Cards for all students. One Cards are a safety measure to assure that we know who is on our buses and in our school buildings each day. Please help your child keep track of their One Card and have it on each morning. One Cards are needed to get on the bus each morning. Also, One Cards are scanned each morning when they enter the building to check students in off the bus and/or from the car rider line. Many students are not coming with their One Card. It is a clear expectation that they have their cards daily. The cost to replace their card is $5.
We greatly appreciate your support as we continuously work to provide an excellent education every day to each of our Brightwood Tiger this school year. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us here at the school or send us a message on ClassDojo. Thank you for all that you do and have a great evening. Remember you are amazing!
Love Always Your Proud Principal,
Ms. LaTrice Stokes
