Celebrate Education Suggested Visitation Schedule

If Back to School Night is a window into our classrooms, Celebrate Education Week is like sitting in the living room having milk and cookies. It just doesn’t get any better than this! We open the doors to our school community in a few weeks, and hope you’ll consider joining us. I am asking that you visit during the recommended grade level times for several important reasons.

  • In order to maintain adequate parking we need to invite groups of parents throughout the week.
  • In order to maintain our high level of instruction, we want to minimize distractions the best we can. Please remember this is an adults only visit as small children may disrupt instruction.
  • In order to maintain security all visitors must go through the office to receive a visitor’s badge. Having an idea of who is coming, and when, will allow us to have adequate personnel available to ensure a timely transition.

Below you will find a recommended schedule of visitation. You will find one AM visitation recommendation, and one PM visitation recommendation for each class. If you plan to visit, please do your best to join us during one or both of the recommended times. In most cases, teachers will be instructing students as they would on any other day. Enjoy this opportunity to see your child learn new things and, perhaps, participate in curricular activities. If you are unable to join us on the dates and times listed, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher to schedule an alternate time during the week. You are also welcome to take your child out to eat for a special lunch with you. The specialists would welcome your attendance to art, music, P.E. or library as well. Please just reference your child’s special schedule.

We welcome your attendance and look forward to your visit throughout the week of October 12th. Please be sure to take a stroll through our courtyard during your visit, and marvel at the scarecrows our school community created - truly cooperation in action!

Dear Parents and Families:

Reading for pleasure inside and outside of school has real and long-lasting benefits. It unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Here’s what you can do to help children develop stronger reading skills and a love for reading:

  • Set the example. Let children see you read.
  • Have a collection of books in your home. Update this collection routinely to keep pace with changing tastes and reading skills.
  • Support our school’s Book Fair. Allow your children to choose their own books to read.

Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into our school. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. Please make plans to visit our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child’s reading habits.

Book Fair dates: Monday 11/2-Friday 11/6

Shopping hours: all day during school hours

Special activities: Family night 6-8pm

If you are unable to attend the Fair in person, we invite you to visit our online Book Fair at scholastic.com/fair. Our online Fair is available from 10/28 to 11/10

Remember, all purchases benefit our school.

TAOD Curriculum

Dear Parents:

As part of the Central Bucks School District Elementary Health Curriculum, a unit entitled Tobacco, Alcohol, and Other Drugs is taught to pupils in grades K-6. The primary purpose of this program is to educate the children on the negative impacts of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs, as well as the impact of negative peer influences.

Your child’s teacher will teach researched-based lessons developed by Central Bucks teachers and certified school nurses using HealthTeacher.com as a resource. In order to deliver a consistent, cohesive curriculum, all Central Bucks teachers will deliver this curriculum during Red Ribbon Week, October 19-30. Course level goals and objectives can be found on the school district’s website: http://www.cbsd.org/Page/1497

A PDF version of the PowerPoints (instructional curriculum) used in the classrooms can be viewed at http://www.cbsd.org/Page/24978 . Should parents wish to have their child excused from the program, they should send a written request to the attention of the principal.

As always, please do not hesitate to call with any questions.

How Do I Get on The Volunteer List

All Central Bucks School District Volunteers

Volunteers must have their clearances on file with the CBSD Human Resources Department prior to starting volunteer work. The new Pennsylvania State mandate does allow until July 1, 2016 to obtain background checks. However, in the best interest of the safety and security of our students, we are asking volunteers to comply with submitting background checks prior to volunteering in the 2015-2016 school year.

Click link to learn more: http://www.cbsd.org/site/default.aspx?PageID=355

If you have already submitted paperwork you do not need to take any further action at this time.

This online process is ONLY for those who have not submitted clearances/certifications as of October 1, 2015.

NOTE: TD Bank in Jamison is offering their notary services to all Warwick Elementary parents who need their volunteer clearances for free, even if he/she is not a TD Bank customer. Please call (215)918-3201 to ensure a notary is on duty before going to TD Bank location at York & Almshouse Rds.

Once you have received your updated clearances, please provide copies to the Human Resource Department. Simply mail copies to the Administrative Services Center, ATTN: Human Resources, 20 Welden Drive, Doylestown, PA 18901 or email scanned copies to hr@cbsd.org.
