TOPIC: FBISD Annual Information Security Awareness Training

DESCRIPTION: HB3834 (86R) requires all active FBISD Staff complete Annual Information Security Awareness Training by June 14, 2020. This annual cybersecurity training is consistent with our FBISD Core Belief “We believe student success is best achieved in a supportive climate and safe environment.” as well as our commitment that “FBISD will provide a supportive climate and a safe learning/working environment.” All FBISD Staff have been enrolled in four online courses which will satisfy our annual cybersecurity training requirement, please refer to the FBISD Annual Information Security Awareness Training Job Aid on how to access the online training.

TOPIC: Crisis Coding

DESCRIPTION: TEA has implemented 9 crisis codes to be reported for every student enrolled as of the last day of school. The status will be determined by the level of student engagement for two defined periods during the COVID-19 closure. All English/Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies teachers are to submit this PEIMS-required student engagement status by Tuesday, May 26th. Campuses will receive a data verification report on Wednesday, May 27th. See attached job aid.

TOPIC: TAPP Mentors

DESCRIPTION: Applications are now open for teachers interested in supporting new teachers as a TAPP (Teachers Advancing Professional Practice) Mentor. The deadline for applications is May 28, 2020. Notification of acceptance into the TAPP Mentorship program will occur the week of June 15th. Please encourage your teachers to check their FBISD email periodically. In order to be a mentor for the upcoming school year, mentors must complete the online TAPP Mentorship Orientation course and online TAPP Mentor Summer Learning Retreat prior to August 12, 2020. The new TAPP Mentors Orientation online course will launch on June 22nd. TOPIC: Conduct Grades for Term 4

DESCRIPTION: It has been decided that we will not include conduct grades on Term 4 report cards. Please do not add conduct grades to report cards for Term 4. Remember, An elementary teacher is required to put a narrative comment for Term 4 if the student was marked as DNM. Comments for students who Met Standard are optional during Term 4 reporting.

DESCRIPTION: Contracts and Letters of Assurance (e-forms) will be available for all eligible employees beginning Wednesday, May 13, 2020. Please sign your e-form on or before May 29, 2020, to express your intent to return. The e-form will be open and allow you to sign until the penalty-free deadline, June 29, 2020. If you find the need to resign for the 2020-2021 school year, an exit form must be submitted via My Self-Serve no later than June 29, 2020. DESCRIPTION: The Multilingual Department will offer an ESL Certification training in June for FBISD employees with a valid Texas teaching certificate. This virtual session will take place over two Saturdays, June 6th, and June 13th. This session will be limited to only 40 participants. The last day to register for this course is Friday, May 29th.
