Waggoner Road Junior High Legends
January Edition 2
CAREER CENTER FIELD TRIP
Congratulations to Lillian Morton and Zaccai Parker both 7th graders who will have their artwork displayed in the Mayor's office this month
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
The next Principal/Parent Roundtable will announced soon. Check the next newsletter for date, time, and topics of discussion.
HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
We are experiencing a lot of profanity with our students, specifically directed to teachers. Parents please talk to your students about this behavior specifically so that they understand this will not be tolerated. Using profanity at/towards a teacher is extremely disrespectful and completely disrupts the learning environment, not just at that moment but for the future because other students then begin to address the teacher in the same way. While we do not like to send students away from school, profanity at/towards a teacher will result in removal from school. If a student is feeling violated they should come to the office and allow a member of the administrative staff to assist them before we get to a point where they are expressing themselves inappropriately.
NO TECH DAYS
They are back!!!!!!!!! Three days without technolgoy.
Teachers are expected to plan hand's-on activities with their students, perhaps go over note-taking, discuss and/or practice study skills as it relates to your subject area, try a student led instructional day.....just to name a few. This is not a fun day, or a game day. Instruction will continue to happen in a way that does not involve technology.
NO phones, NO computers, NO powerpoint, etc. Students are encouraged to keep electronics at home. Any items confiscated will be turned in to the office BY THE TEACHER for parent pickup. If teachers confiscate electronic items they will contact parents to make them aware.
If a student turns in something late, does it mean they know less of the content?
Similarly, if a student turns in something on time does it mean that they know more or understand better?
Behavior is important, but should be kept separate to prevent grade distortion?
What does the behavior of turning things in on time accomplish? Feel free to share your responses by clicking the link below.

If your student is not in one of these year long electives they must participate is all 8 electives that we offer here at Waggoner. We are working to make sure these electives fall into appropriate grade levels, therefor we must be purposeful in the placement of students. That being said all students will have the following:
College and Career Plus
There are some instances where the 7th graders have already taken the 8th grade electives, so for the 20/21 SY they will take the elective they missed from 7th grade with 7th graders.
