WOHE Family January Update

WOHE - Our leaders are STARS!

December 2022 Highlights

December 2022 Highlights

We had a wonderful December at WOHE! Our staff, PTO and homeroom parents did a wonderful job planning memorable and fun activities for our students and staff each day during December. Many of our parents contributed in some way and we are so very grateful! Our students, families and staff are the difference makers at WOHE by creating a resilient school community which lays the foundation for our students to show growth and achievement.

Not only did our students and staff receive gifts from families through fun food days and winter parties, our student leadership teams stepped up into servant leadership and created events like food and toy drives to take care of our families and students in need during the holiday season. Our Willard Family Connection team led by Mrs. Raby and Mrs. Carlyle partnered with our reading teachers Mrs. Pyle, Mrs. Hartman and Mrs. Preston with the help of PTO and Penguin Shop to celebrate reading and the holiday season of giving. Students and families came to enjoy pancakes, literacy, gift finding and holiday cheer on a Saturday morning.

Our 4th graders performed their winter musical “The Littlest Christmas Tree” and brought down the house by communicating the power of looking at the heart instead of outward appearances. We appreciate all of their hard work and stage presence to be prepared to perform for family and friends.

We celebrated the accomplishments of students during the 2nd quarter during the WOHE Oscars Assembly. Several students were able to walk the Red Carpet to be honored for their consistent commitment to being respectful, responsible, safe/in control and modeling leadership. We also honored classrooms for synergizing during special area classes and displaying leadership keeping their rooms clean and modeling manners in the cafeteria.

Classroom Winter Parties followed and EVERY classroom homeroom parent knocked it out of the park! Every classroom had students with 100 % engagement and joy when I entered. What an incredible way for our students and staff to enter into the winter break in such a memorable way. Thank you parents for loving on our students and staff with such love and creativity!

Important Reminders Moving Forward

Looking Ahead to January 2023

  • Friendly Reminders:

    • Please continue to make it a priority to have your student at school by 8:30 am every morning so that all students can experience Community Time on Mondays and Fridays as well as Student Leadership Teams on Tuesdays and LEAD Time on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

    • Student daily attendance is imperative for student learning. We understand that there has been a lot of illness which is understandable. However, please remember your student’s learning is significantly impacted if they are not present 90% plus of the time.

    • If you utilize car pick-up it will be very helpful to the safety of our students and staff if you remain in your car until a staff member opens the car door for your student to get in your vehicle. If you need to buckle your child safely in the car we understand. Please try to buckle your student as quickly as possible. Also, do not prompt your child to come to your car without a staff member coming with them. Please continue to be patient and go to the stop to wait for your student. Our car pick up line has become very efficient and we appreciate your partnership and patience to keep this system as safe and smooth as possible.

    • Also if you are looking for a way to show your appreciation and encouragement to teachers at WOHE the district has created a fantastic and easy way to send them words of encouragement. Just go to the Willard Schools website and to send a digital postcard. You will fill the bucket of our staff members who work endlessly to love, mentor and create a rich learning environment for all students everyday!
