Have a Beautiful Week and a Happy Spring Break!!
I wish you a restful and refreshing Spring Break beginning on April 4. Please note school will be closed this Friday, April 1 in honor of César Chávez Day. Please stay safe and healthy, and as always...make a memory with your family.
Despite illness, emergencies, COVID-19 and quarantine, our Holbrook community has persisted to keep learning happening. I appreciate everyone’s hard work and commitment!
As long as your child is healthy, please make sure they attend on time everyday. It is important to give our students enough time to get their bodies and minds prepared for learning. Breakfast is served in the cafeteria at 7:45AM, and students must be accompanied by an adult. The gates open at 8:00, and school begins at 8:12AM. Every day of school is an important opportunity for students to learn as well as connect to peers and their teachers.
In the event your child will not be in school, do not just report it to the teacher. It MUST be reported to the school office office as soon as possible (before 9:00AM).
Thank you for your support with this!
Rapid COVID-19 test kits available to Holbrook Students and Staff
To ensure the safety of students and staff when they return from Spring Break, MDUSD has distributed rapid response COVID-19 test kits to each school in the District to be distributed to students and staff on a first-come, first served basis before the Spring Break begins. We have received enough test kits for every student and staff member, so we encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to take a test kit home to be used before returning to school campuses on April 11th.
Any positive test results must be reported to the school office as soon as possible and students testing positive must isolate themselves at home. Students must also stay home if they have COVID-19 symptoms, even if they test negative. The District's current COVID-19 protocols can be found here.
MDUSD is also continuing to offer PCR COVID-19 testing at selected school sites. Please note that all regular PCR testing sites will be open Monday through Thursday and Saturday during Spring Break. However, all District PCR testing sites will be closed on Friday, April 1 due to the César Chávez holiday and on Friday, April 8 due to the Districtwide Board holiday. The complete testing schedule is here: https://mdusd.org/covidtesting.
Thank you for helping to keep our students safe!
Parent Chaperones & Volunteers
For a parent/guardian to chaperone or volunteer, you must have the following on file:
- Fingerprints cleared through MDUSD HR
- Clear TB on file with MDUSD (good for 4 years)
- Volunteer Request form on file with MDUSD
- COVID Vaccination card verified by school office
Directions and forms are on the District website. Please note completing the paperwork does not instantaneously clear someone to volunteer. The District must verify and authorize you first.
