Librarians Always Have Fresh Ideas
SSLMA-Mackin-Media Flex Celebration Dinner May 18, 2016
Join Fellow SSLMA members for a celebration on May 18!
Speaker: Dr. Joette Stefl-Mabry,
Associate Professor-Informational Studies-College of Computing and Information
Associate Research Professor- Department of Educational Theory and Practice,
School of Education, SUNY Albany
Dr. Stefl-Mabry’s focus is on school librarians and the quantifiable effect on student achievement in NY State. When teachers remain in the library with their students and co-teach with the librarian, magic happens, and ELA test scores show an increase! This is in contrast with the “dump and run” model currently used in many districts.
Special thanks to Dr. Stefl-Mabry for donating her speaking fee ($250) to a school library program in need, which the SSLMA will award at the dinner.
