Last week at HSA Euless
October is early acceptance time for colleges. We have already seen and celebrated with several students who received admission letters. We ask students to share these letters as well as any scholarship offers with their counselor. We add the student's name to our celebratory college admission board and we announce the student's name and college admission during announcements. Our goal is always to strive for continuous improvement. Let's go, Class of 2019!

Healthy Eating Habits Guidelines to follow during Winter Break
Meal Charge Policy
Students are not allowed to purchase a la carte items if their account has a $0 or negative balance. If they are purchasing a milk, we will allow them one charge as a courtesy. The Lunch Clerk will inform the student and parent that there must be funds in the meal account for a la carte purchases. The next attempt to purchase a la carte items will be denied until the account shows a positive balance.
The district charge limit applies to reimbursable meals only and not a la carte purchases.

important message from attendance clerk
Attendance Clerk Mrs.Viviana Olvera
Is your student absent today?
In general, there are two things school needs you to do if your student is going to be absent:
Call the school and report your child absent:
Please call (817) 354-3000 by 9:00 a.m.on the first and each day your student is absent or email the Attendace Clerk at: volvera@harmonytx.org
Why are absence calls necessary?
Excessive absences are considered truancy under state law, the school reserves the right to take extreme absence cases to court. For detailed attendance information please read the Harmony Public Schools student handbook pages 13-15. We really appreciate receiving those calls and emails about absences first thing in the morning as it helps us ensure the safety of all of our students. Thank you!
Send a Written Note:
Upon returning to school, the student must bring a note, signed by the parent that describes the reason for the absence. A note signed by the student, even with the parent’s permission, will not be accepted.
Please do not send notes on post its, index cards or torn pieces of paper. Notes must be received within three days of the absence or the absence will be unexcused.
Extended Absence
Are you planning to take your student out of school for an extended absence? Pre-plan multiple day absences (for any reason) require advance approval by our Principal. Please call 817-354- 3000 or stop by the front office and we will walk you through the authorization process and arrange for homework to be prepared for your student to take with them.

Cafeteria News
Nutritious meals are available daily for a price of$1.70 for breakfast, $3.00 for lunch, and $0.50 for a la carte milk. Each student is provided a lunch account on to which money may be deposited. Households are also encouraged to log in to their child’s account (using the parent password), go to the “Lunch” tab, and click on ONLINE LUNCH APPLICATION to apply for free or reduced price meals. If you need the parent password reset, please call the school and ask to speak with the Lunch Clerk.
Should a student’s meal account balance fall below $0, he /she will be allowed to charge up to –$15.00. Once the negative meal account balance limit is reached, the student will receive an alternate meal. Alternate meals consist of cereal, fruit, and milk for breakfast; and for lunch, a sandwich, vegetable, and milk. If a student is later approved for free meals, they will begin receiving meals immediately. However, the household is still responsible for paying the negative account balance.
