Vapes/E-Cigarettes Law Change
Dear Eagle Families,
We hope this message finds you well and excited for the 2023-2024 school year. We wanted to bring to your attention a significant change in the state law that might affect your child, and we believe collaboration and awareness are essential during this transition.
LEGISLATIVE CHANGE IN LAW REGARDING VAPES/E-CIGARETTES
At the recent July 24 Board of Trustees meeting, the 2023-2024 Student Code of Conduct was approved, incorporating a new law from the 88th Texas Legislature. The law in question is House Bill 114, passed and signed by Governor Greg Abbott on June 13. This law mandates that any student caught with a vape on school premises MUST be placed into a disciplinary alternative education program (DAEP).
We understand this is a significant departure from the consequences students faced in previous school years. It's essential to be aware that possession of a vape on a Prosper ISD campus or property will now lead to a DAEP placement, which could impact a student's participation in extracurricular and co-curricular activities.
What can you do as a parent?
As parents, you play a crucial role in helping your child understand the seriousness of this change. We know that vapes are accessible to students, and they may obtain them from peers or online. For this reason, discussing the potential consequences of possessing a vape on school grounds with your child would be beneficial. It's essential to remember that even well-behaved students can make mistakes, and guidance from parents is invaluable in helping them make the right choices.
Rest assured, we will inform you if there are any additional changes related to this law. We aim to create a safe and healthy environment for all students, and collaboration between families and campus administrators is the key to achieving this.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter, and we look forward to working together for a successful and positive school year!
Sincerely,
Nicholas Jones

Hello from Prosper High School's Counseling Department!
Below is the link to the annual survey from our department. This survey is designed to take you about 5 minutes. Your response informs our work and the ways in which we work alongside teachers and administrators to most effectively assist your child.
Your voice is very important to our work - we thank you for your time and look forward to your response!
Parents/Guardians,
If your student is considering leveling down from an Honors or AP class at the end of the six weeks/semester, please note the following required procedures.
If a student is currently struggling in their class, they must communicate with the teacher as soon as possible to discuss setting up a plan for success. This plan may include tutoring before or after school, Advisory, additional resources, working with them on their study habits, etc. The student and parent must commit to the success plan until the end of the 6th week of school. If the student and parent still want to level down, then the student needs to pick up and complete a Request to Drop an Advanced Academic Class Form from their teacher or the counselor’s office to receive a schedule change.
These steps must be followed in order to change the schedule:
1. Student AND Parent communicates with the teacher as soon as possible
2. Success plan is created - Request to Drop an Advanced Academic Class Form is picked up from the teacher or counselor’s office.
3. Students, parents and teachers follow the steps outlined in the form.
4. Form is turned into the Counselor's office.
5. Counselors will change schedule and send new schedule to student
Our Honors/AP teachers want the opportunity to assist our students in overcoming initial hurdles and achieving their goals by working with them to meet their potential.
Students enrolled in an AP level class that does not have a class to level down to (i.e. AP Biology, AP Chemistry, etc.), leveling down is not an option. Students will be required to remain in the course until the end of the semester.
Please note that we have very limited seating available in our on-level classes and we may need to close and combine Honors sections to create additional on level sections to accommodate these changes. Additionally, a student’s schedule may require multiple class and teacher changes to accommodate leveling down in a course.
The attached form can be used as a guide to understanding the process. Please let your student's counselor or administrator know if you have any questions about this process.
Opportunity for FREE tickets to Friday Night Football games
Each week, 500 complimentary tickets to the varsity football game at Prosper ISD Children’s Health Stadium will be available online for the home high school (or both schools if Prosper ISD schools are playing each other) at Ticket Spicket from 8 am Tuesday morning until 4 pm Wednesday. Tickets will be automatically sent to the first 500 students who redeem once the ticket link opens at 8 am on Tuesdays.Nurse's Notes

We want your child in UIL Academics!
There are many events that will provide an avenue for them to get involved in their school and build socialization and life skills in teamwork. Studies show us that students involved in their school are more productive in school, have higher grades, and are more likely to excel beyond high school.
