Grit

Grit? What is that? Grit is having the passion, perseverance, stamina, and will to stay on a path even when times get tough. It is getting through the storm and continuing to work with urgency and agency even when you feel like nothing is changing or getting better. As we enter the last month of school, we have to get our "grit on". We have to teach our students to have grit. Grit is what's going to keep us going with passion and patience to get the learning outcomes that we have worked so hard for during the year to achieve. When you get tired and discouraged, know that we don't have long. Keep pushing. When the year is over, I want you to be confident that you gave your all. As they say on Paw Patrol: "Do your best and forget about the rest." :-)

Have a great weekend!

Professional Development

Professional Development is essential to professional growth. Learning is how you become better at your craft. It helps to build knowledge, skill, and self-confidence. Reflect on your last PD experience (outside of school PD). How long ago was it? Did you learn something that you use? Did it help to build your knowledge and skill set? Was it voluntary or mandatory? These questions are important. Please consider attending a math or reading training this summer if you can. If this is not possible, invest in a new book to help you to continue to learn and critique your craft.

The math department and literacy department are providing a lot of PD sessions this summer. They are at different days and times so please try to attend at least 1. It is always good to hear information and expectations straight from the source! :-)

If you have any questions, please let me know.

3-5 EOG Review---Action Required

3-5 Teachers,

When you are conducting EOG review, please make sure to have a QUICK checkpoint for the standards that you are teaching. This is a checkpoint and should not be long. We don't want to test them too much, but we have to gauge whether our teaching and reteaching is working. Please bring student checkpoints to planning so that we can analyze the data and revamp instruction if needed.
