GE Day - Parent Volunteers Needed
Washington is one of the schools elected to be a recipient of GE's Community Service Day on August 2nd from 8-3pm.
Parents who are interested in volunteering along with our GE volunteers on August 2nd, YOU MUST complete the Link to volunteer survey. Any volunteers will get lunch and possibly a free t-shirt!
I'll reach out to interested families with more details about the day, but projects so far include landscaping, painting classrooms, painting lines on blacktop, murals, cleaning, organizing, and much much more!
Thank you in advance for helping to make GE Day a huge success!
Updates from the Office: Staffing, GE Day, Construction
Happy Summer! I've really enjoyed my July. My family and I camped, spent time in Door County and took a quick trip to St.Louis. I was hoping we would be a little further along with the remodel of our rooms that were affected by the flood in March, but construction and remodel are finally underway. You'll notice a couple of large storage containers on the North playground - those will be used to store some furniture and supplies during construction.
Please help me welcome the following new staff members to Washington for the upcoming school year. They each shared a brief bio to help you get to know them.
Orchestra - Loni Gornick
I am honored and thrilled to be your new Elementary Orchestra Teacher at Lincoln, Washington, and Eisenhower Elementary Schools. I believe the beginning of your child’s instrumental musical journey is so important, and I am so privileged that I will be able to continue to foster a love of music in your child this year. Prior to coming to Wauwatosa, I was the Director of Orchestras at Badger High School and Star Center Elementary in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, for 14 years. I received my Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and my Masters of Music in String Development from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In my free time, I love to play my cello professionally, run, and spend time with my husband, and two young sons. I look forward to meeting you and your child(ren)!
Spanish - Nicolle Schroeder
Saludos! My name is Nicolle Schroeder. I have been a Spanish Teacher in the Milwaukee area since 2002 but this is my first time teaching at the elementary level. When I am not teaching or studying, I enjoy making jewelry and practicing yoga. I live with my husband and two sons who will be in 3rd grade and 5K at Roosevelt this year. I look forward to a year of fun and surprises!
