DIARY OF DAWSON SCHOOL

October 1, 2018

Principal Update:

On September 21, we had our first lockdown drill. The Holden Police Department also tested out Crisis Go with their dispatch. The staff and the students did very well with this drill. We plan on having an unannounced drill in October. Dawson had the annual bus evacuation on September 19. All students participated in this safety drill.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month

From recent research, more than one in five students report being bullied at school each year. From name calling, being made fun of, threatened or physically harmed, children who are picked on by bullies find that it can cause them to be fearful of going to school. Here at Dawson, we take bullying very seriously. This month there are many activities planned to include character videos, an online book read-aloud by Mrs. Wallace on kindness, Parent University on Child Safety, and on October 25 a school-wide assembly on Kindness and Unity.

If you are interested in attending the Parent University: Safety - Digital Citizenship, Cyberbullying and Bullying Prevention please sign up so I can have enough materials.

In Partnership,

Mrs. Wallace
