YEARBOOK INFORMATION

EDUCATOR/ESP OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS
We are excited to participate in the NJ Department of Education’s Governor’s Educator of the Year Program. This program highlights educational innovation, student learning, and the rewards of teaching. It recognizes and honors the contributions of outstanding pre-K through grade 12 classroom teachers and educational services professionals who possess a special talent for inspiring a love of learning in students of all backgrounds and abilities and are leaders in their fields.
Over the past two and a half years, educators changed the way they delivered instruction. Now, more than ever before, is the time to celebrate New Jersey's outstanding educators.
Nominations may come from parents and colleagues and are due no later than 3PM Friday, November 18, 2022. Our school Teacher of the Year also has the chance to become County and State Teacher of the Year, so the more you share in your nomination, the better! From our Supervisors
South’s educators continue to work hard to motivate and inspire all students with a plethora of resources and activities. We are putting forth our best efforts to achieve this and bring joy to learning.
Our Art teachers, Mr. Greg Johnson, Ms. Lauren Ruhlin and Ms. Rebekkah Hunkele, have begun the process of the 70 year old tradition of painting downtown business windows that our community looks forward to and enjoys. Our art students are researching and sketching their ideas. They have the opportunity to provide feedback to each other about their designs. Although all students are expected to create a painting that shows subject, foreground, background, texture, and compositional elements, the subject of their painting, the composition and the color scheme is entirely up to the students. We can’t wait to see their creations!
We are so grateful to be a part of each students’ journey and to continue to share our amazing experiences at South!

Council for International Education Exchange
Spend the summer abroad through CIEE (Council for International Education Exchange) is a global non-profit organization that has been providing academic study abroad opportunities for high school students for over 75 years. Our donor generously awards over $5.5 million in scholarships every summer to students who qualify for both merit and financial need scholarships (cover from 10%-100% of program tuition). We offer four week-long World Language programs (French, Spanish, Italian, Mandarin, German, Arabic, Japanese and Portuguese), where students can receive 4 college credits through Tulane University. We also offer programs in Science, International Relations, Arts, Business and Leadership (students can receive 12-50 service hours). Picture yourself in one of 30 amazing destinations in Europe, Asia, Latin America, or Africa. Apply by December 1 for a chance to win a free flight! Free Ticket Raffle.
Fill out the Google Form if you are interested in attending the CIEE presentation on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 . Please contact Ann Gural at agural@trschools.com with questions.

NEWS FROM THE GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) will open October 1st for the 2023-24 school year. Seniors and their parents/guardians should file early so that students can find out from their accepted schools what aid they will qualify for. File the FAFSA at www.studentaid.gov.

ESL Night School for Adults
We are happy to announce that we have been approved to bring back the ESL Night School for Adults program. As we see that our community is becoming more culturally diverse, this is a great opportunity to broaden communication and enrich relationships with the families we serve.
