Lets Shoot for a PERFECT (100% ) ATTENDANCE in October

Attendance Matters

We are moving into the fall OASIS count period. The "October Count" period sets our school's membership and ultimately determines the funding we receive from the State for 2019/20. If at all possible, please avoid scheduling non-emergency appointments or pulling students out for optional events/travel. It is critical that your student(s) be in attendance to be counted during this three week period. Every student, every day counts.

This year the count period runs from September 30 - October 25.

Parents & Guardians;

Volunteers are worth their weight in gold. A huge shout out to all the moms, dads, and grandparents who have already logged in volunteer hours. Eagle Academy wants you to know that your contributions make a world of a difference. We appreciate you sharing your time and talents in support of our students, teachers, school, and mission.

Deanne Carroll - Principal

As part of their commitment to education and literacy programs in our community, the Eagle River chapter of the Rotary Club has made a donation to our school! A huge Thank You to the Eagle River Area Rotary Club for their generous donation to Eagle Academy.

Afternoon Pick-Up is an exciting time for both parents and students. Eagle Academy Administration and Staff appreciate your patience and smiles as we try to get each of our precious students on their way home safely.

Just a gentle reminder: We share the parking lot and building with other organizations. If you arrive early and wish to be one of the fortunate few to be first in line, we ask that you refrain from blocking the handicapped parking spaces and crosswalk.

This greatly enhances student & staff safety reasons and the flow of traffic.

The Academic Policy Board (APB) is accepting applications to fill our vacant Community Member seat.

The Academic Policy Board consists of seven (7) members: four parents, one community member at large and two teachers of Eagle Academy. The parent positions must be filled by parents of students currently attending Eagle Academy and may not be filled by teachers, permanent staff members, or long-term temporary staff members of Eagle Academy. The community member may be a parent or classified employee but may not be a certificated staff member.

Please see the attached application for more details. If interested, please return the application in a sealed envelope to the front office by Monday, 9/30.

A huge shout out to all Eagle Academy families that have been sending your students to school in full uniform according to our Charter Policy. It's amazing to see the pride your students have been showing. They look sharp!

Eagle Academy believes that a school uniform dress code is a positive way to create a

more unified, productive, and safe school climate focused more strongly on the learning

We will begin enforcement of the Dress Code Policy (School Policy & Procedure Manual, pg. 19+) starting the week of Sept 23rd.

The Judiciary Act of 1789 is passed by Congress and signed by President George Washington, establishing the Supreme Court of the United States as a tribunal made up of six justices who were to serve on the court until death or retirement. That day, President Washington nominated John Jay to preside as chief justice, and John Rutledge, William Cushing, John Blair, Robert Harrison, and James Wilson to be associate justices. On September 26, all six appointments were confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

German astronomer Johann Gottfried Galle discovers the planet Neptune at the Berlin Observatory. Neptune, generally the eighth planet from the sun, was postulated by the French astronomer Urbain-Jean-Joseph Le Verrier, who calculated the approximate location of the planet by studying gravity-induced disturbances in the motions of Uranus. On September 23, 1846, Le Verrier informed Galle of his findings, and the same night Galle and his assistant Heinrich Louis d’Arrest identified Neptune at their observatory in Berlin. Noting its movement relative to background stars over 24 hours confirmed that it was a planet.

On September 22, 1862, President Abraham Lincoln issues a preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, which sets a date for the freedom of more than 3 million black slaves in the United States and recasts the Civil War as a fight against slavery.

Sir Alexander Fleming was a young bacteriologist when an accidental discovery led to one of the great developments of modern medicine on September 28, 1928. Having left a plate of staphylococcus bacteria uncovered, Fleming noticed that a mold that had fallen on the culture had killed many of the bacteria. He identified the mold as penicillium notatum, similar to the kind found on bread.
