Note from Ms. Moulton
Greetings, Hosmer Families,
Hooray! It is almost time for all of the Hosmer Huskies to return to school! We are here and excitedly preparing for students to return next week. This week our amazing teachers and staff and been busy setting up classrooms and planning engaging community-building and learning activities to help students get to know their new classmates. It is going to be a great week and a great year!
This newsletter contains information about the logistics of school, including arrival and dismissal. I strongly encourage you to open and read the Hosmer Family Guide, linked here and in the button above.
Dismissal Form
All families should complete a Dismissal Form so that we know how students are getting home each day. A paper copy will be sent home in the first few days, but you can also print it out if you prefer to send it on the first day.
School Bus Information
Specific information for families whose children ride the school bus has been sent to families who are registered to take the bus.
Kindergarten Start Dates
- Tuesday, September 5th - Half-hour tours for students and their families (see your placement emails for the time you are scheduled)
- Wednesday, September 6th - 8:00 AM –12:00 PM (lunch, no extended day, no school bus for Kindergarten) - Please note that dismissal is at NOON
- Thursday and Friday, September 7th & 8th - 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM (Regular, full day, lunch, & extended day)
Reporting Absences from School
This year all student absences should be reported via this online form. Using this form will help to streamline communication and ensure that we are properly tracking excused and unexcused absences. The link to this form will be included in every Husky Highlight.
No School Supply Lists
There is no school supply list for students this year. The district will supply basic school supplies for students in all WPS elementary schools. Students should have a school bag and a refillable water bottle. We hope this makes things easier for our families and students!
Free Breakfast and Lunch Continue this Year
We are thrilled that Governor Healy has signed into law a permanent Free School Meals for All. This allows all children in Watertown to continue to receive free breakfast and lunch daily.
As always, I thank you for your continued support of our wonderful school.
With a grateful heart,
Erin Moulton, Principal

Arrival Procedures
Students may begin entering the school building at 8:05 AM. Instruction begins at 8:15 AM. The school day ends at 2:30 pm.
Entrance into the school is arranged according to the location of your child’s classroom. Students will enter the building and go directly to their homerooms.
If you are dropping your child off by car, please pull into the drop and go located on Concord Rd. Do not exit your car. Staff members will be present to assist children out of cars and direct children to the correct entrance.
Dismissal Procedures
Students who are being picked up by an adult or walking home will exit the building at the same location they entered in the morning. Classroom teachers will walk children to their designated pick-up location. Please note that students in grades Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade must be picked up by an adult unless they are being picked up by an older sibling in 3rd, 4th or 5th grade.
It is essential that parents leave the pickup areas clear so that teachers can gather their children in these locations. Please wait for your child along the sidewalk that is nearest to your child’s designated area. Teachers will send your child to you once they see you.
Please note that Concord Rd is live parking only from 2:15 until 2:45.

Volunteers needed
The Hosmer School Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) sponsors community building events, funds enrichment activities for all grades, and shows appreciation for teachers and staff throughout the year. We are looking for volunteers to support these efforts in a few ways:
- 5th grade end-of-year activities committee: we are looking for volunteers to help fundraise for an organize 5th grade end-of-year activities
- PTO board members: we are still looking for additional board members to support all of the PTO activities throughout the year, and the administrative effort to make all of these activities happen
If you are interested in learning more about getting involved with the PTO, please email Charlotte Svirsky (cs@hosmerpto.org) and Amalia Derhohannesian (ad@hosmerpto.org) to learn more - we would love to hear from you and answer any questions you might have!
For more information and updates from the PTO, please sign up for our newsletter at hosmerpto.org, and follow us on Facebook.
Thank you for supporting our school, looking forward to a great school year!
Hosmer Diversity and Belonging Council
The goal of the Hosmer Diversity and Belonging Council is to unite families, students, and faculty/staff to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within our community.
Caregivers and Hosmer staff meet monthly to learn and discuss issues related to equity, inclusion, and belonging. The council also plans events for the school and community. We also coordinate with diversity councils from Lowell and Cunniff. This is a great opportunity to meet other families and celebrate our diverse community while working together to make it more inclusive.
