November 12, 2021
November is here already! The second grade classes at McClure will be participating in a food drive this year. Mrs. Palmer and Mrs. Domme decided on some friendly competition between the classes. The whole school is welcomed to participate and show how they can be good citizens by donating non-perishable food items now until November 18. You can drop off your donation to the Hall of Heroes. There will be boxes on the stage with the class names on them.
We will be donating the food to the Rescue Mission to help families feed their loved ones this holiday season. The second grade team would like to thank you in advance for your participation.

Elementary Vaccination Clinic
Topeka Public Schools, Kansas Department of Health and Environment, and Shawnee County Health Department - SCHD are partnering to provide optional Elementary Vaccination Clinics at Jardine Elementary School and Meadows Elementary School from 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. for children ages 5 to 11 on specific days.

Students have received iRead 20 calendars. This is a reading program to encourage your student to read at home. You will receive a calendar for each month through April. Students are to read at least 20 minutes a day for at least 20 days a month. At the end of the month students return their calendar to the library signed by a parent to receive a reward.
During cold weather, please make sure your child comes to school with a warm coat, hat, and gloves. Even if we stay inside, an emergency that would cause us to evacuate the building in cold weather would leave students who have come without a warm coat and are in danger of getting cold. In Topeka Public Schools, we believe that fresh air and exercise are good for the body and the mind. While students may not stay outside for an entire play period, if the wind chill index and temperature are within reason, students will go outside, if only to “run off a little excess energy.” If for medical reasons, your child is restricted from this play, a note
should be sent. If the restricted period is for more than one or two days, a note should be sent from the physician.
Virtual Transportation Thursdays
School bus drivers begin at $16-20 per hour, plus a signing bonus and the opportunity to receive Topeka Public Schools Premium Retention Pay.
Schedule a virtual interview by completing this short form. We look forward to seeing you!
