Staff Highlight - Holly Ekkens

Q: What is your role?

A: Vocal Music Specialist. I teach K-5 General Music and 4th and 5th grade choir at 2 Elementary Schools.

Q: What is your responsibility?

A: I feel my responsibility is to help kids develop a love for music and the desire to know more about it, as well as learning to work together in a group and be respectful of each other.

Q: What do you want families to know?

A: In our weekly classes, we sing, play instruments, play games and dance. I try to plan things that will involve ALL of our wonderful kiddos. It has been a complete joy to hear the kids singing in person again after a long year of being online.

Q: Any hobbies/interests you would like to share?

A: I love to read, cook, watch the Buckeyes and the Atlanta Braves, spend time with friends and snuggling with my dogs. I have two Dobermans named Harvey and Keetah.

Student Planners

Ms. Thomas provides student planners to her 4th and 5th graders. The planners allow students to practice time management and to stay organized by recording daily assignments and reminders. Our students also get a head start because these planners are also used extensively at Dominion Middle School.
