Innovation Grant Parent Sessions
Come and learn about the changes coming to Orange!
What is an Innovation Grant?
The Orange Elementary School district was recently awarded a $67,637 Innovation Planning Grant by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. This competitive grant was awarded to only 2 schools in the state this year, The Dexter Park School in Orange and the Lowell High School.
The grant was written for staff to plan to restructure the special education service delivery system in line with more inclusive practices for the coming year. It is funding a partner-assisted planning process, that will outline how the school will use existing staff, faculty, and resources to convert the Dexter Park School into an Innovation school with a model of full inclusion for students with disabilities. The inclusion model will be designed to address the unique academic needs of these students in a general education setting; It will incorporate a range of teaching strategies such as co-teaching, differentiated instruction, and the use of a student support center where trained staff will provide life skills and other individualized curriculum to students who require such services.
We hope you come to either session (both are the same) and learn about this exciting opportunity for all the students of Orange.
