Florence 1's Nunnally Receives State and National Recognition

The South Carolina Financial Literacy Master Teacher
Florence 1 teacher Patricia Nunnally, who serves at the James F. Reames Center, has completed requirements of the South Carolina Financial Literacy Master Teacher Program (SCFLMTP). It provides incentives for K-12 teachers who are experts in the area of financial literacy and have a desire to lead professional development workshops in their school, district, or at state educator conferences. The goal is to increase the number of South Carolina students receiving high quality personal finance instruction.
According to the SCFLMT website, South Carolina Financial Literacy Master Teachers will provide outstanding training and resources for teachers throughout the state. By leading fellow teachers in demonstrating how to integrate real life concepts across the curriculum, these teachers will greatly assist South Carolina in educating and empowering our youth with financial literacy skills needed to make sound financial decisions.

48 Eighth Graders Named SC Junior Scholars
Forty-eight eighth grade students in Florence 1 Schools have been named South Carolina Junior Scholars. The South Carolina Junior Scholar program is sponsored by the South Carolina Department of Education. It identifies students that demonstrated exceptionally high scholastic achievement and intellectual ability.
Junior Scholar designation is based on the students’ performance on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT). These students took the PSAT as eighth graders and scored a 550 or above in Reading and Writing or a 530 or above in Mathematics.
The Florence 1 Schools Board of Trustees will recognize these students at the regular meeting on Thursday, June 8th. The 2023 F1S South Carolina Junior Scholars from each of the middle schools are listed here: South Carolina Junior Scholars.
