proud: the sherman anti-trust act was signed into law in 1890 and was intended to prevent trust between buisnesses.

shame: the homestead strike/act was a labor lockout abd strike which resulted in a day long battle between the amalgamed association of iron and steel workers and the carnegie steel company.

shame: Immigrants were subjected to horrific living conditions piled into small apartment buildings called tenement houses that were covered in disease.

shame: Immigrants entering angel island were mostly asian and were treated horribly by americans it would take the immigrants much longer to get into the country than immigrants at ellis island.

proud: U.S. tried to stay out of wwI but after several attacks to U.S. ships by german boats the U.S. declared war on germany and eventually joined the world war.
