Week 10

Wow! Where does the time go?! As you probably know, Quarter 1 assignments closed permanently and report cards will be coming out shortly. Please keep in mind that regardless of a student's actual/earned grade on Quarter 1, no grade lower than 40 is reported on the Quarter 1 grade report, so that ALL students still have a chance to succeed in the course overall. Please speak with your student, have them show you his/her grade and encourage him/her to set goals and strive to do even better 2nd quarter!

We are working on Week 10, continuing with Unit 5, La Tecnología, working on lessons 3 & 4. (Lessons 1 & 2 should have been submitted this past Friday, March 18.)

Below is a list of this week's 8 assignments (due by Friday, March 25 @ 11:55pm).

What's the big deal with the Required Live Classes?

The RLCS' are one of the most unique, and arguably the most important piece of the entire course. They allow for students to directly connect with me and their classmates. I (and the other NCVPS teachers) always have a prepared presentation covering the entire unit's topics. We do guided and individual practice and students have the opportunity to get any/all of their questions answered! If they can't attend my session live, I highly encourage them to attend another teacher's session. Each student must attend at least one RLC per unit (for a total of 10 in the course).

Students have 3 opportunities to attend an RLC for Unit 5 this week. Please encourage your student to look at the schedule and attend a live class as they will have interaction with the teacher and can ask questions.
If your student is unable to attend an RLC for Unit 5, tell them to contact me for information on making up the RLC.

Culture Cafe for Extra Credit for Participation Grade

What is the Culture Cafe? Watch the video below to tell you about this wonderful resource available for students.

Students have several upcoming opportunities to attend sessions in the Culture Cafe for extra credit. One upcoming Culture Cafe is about a trip to Costa Rica! The extra credit for attending a Culture Cafe goes towards the student's participation grade. In addition, students can attend any of the sessions as it does not have to be about Spanish. Below is information about the session this week. Students can click on the Culture Cafe Block/Button on the main Moodle page to enter the session. After attending a Culture Cafe session, students will complete a reflection about the class and submit it for extra credit.
