November 2016 - Ideas
A Note from Your TOSA and Mentors
This is just a start - whatever we can do to help fill in the gaps, whether it's low-cost alternatives for equipment or more/different ideas, please feel free to ask! This is just a sample, as we don't want to overwhelm you with a lot.
While this beginning of the month newsletter will be aimed more towards the Paraprofessionals and the end of the month one for the Coordinators, we'll send both of them to everyone so that you have the consistent communication.

K-2: Circuit
Circuit training not only adds variety to your P.E. lesson, but it gives quick activities your students can do to keep them moving.
Check out these cones with a slit at the top to put your cards/directions or cone caps to use over your existing cones.
3-6: Durango Boot
In Durango Boot, it is a mixture of Ulimate Frisbee and aim. You would, of course, teach the preliminary skills first, and can use it as a culminating activity.

P.E. Methods
Classroom Management - Directions
1) Are you facing the sun?
- It's a lot easier for you to face the sun with a pair of sunglasses, than to have your students distracted because they're too busy squinting.
2) Keep it simple
- If a game has a lot of directions, give 2-3 of them, have them start playing, and then bring them back in after a few minutes, to add more building skills before the game becomes full-fledged.
3) Equipment
- Where is your equipment when the students are listening? Is it on the ground? Is it away from the students? Do the students hold it in one spot, like against their hip or between their knees? Whatever you choose, it helps the students to limit distractions (ie. bouncing balls, rolling equipment, etc.)
App of the Month - Super Stretch Yoga
Super Stretch Yoga is a fun, interactive yoga app for kids.
