Suicide Forest Facts
Suicide forest is located beneath Mount Fuji. It is the most popular suicide destination in Japan, and over 100 people end it there each year(that doesn't count the ones that aren't found). Poor families would abandon their elders to save money. Oddly locals aren't the ones to commit suicide here because as kids they're told it's a scary forest. People who are indecisive about dying wrap tape around the trees, so they can find their way out.
There is a sign to stop people with intentions of suicide that says, “Your life is a precious gift from your parents. Please think about your parents, siblings and children. Don’t keep it to yourself. Talk about your troubled thoughts.”
